Any suggestions for a harmony heavy female duet?
my top four fave female duets
"for good" from wicked
"i know him so well" from chess
"i believe" from miss saigon
"by my side" from godspell
I'm singing "Take Me Or Leave Me" (as Maureen, hehe) with a friend for a performance at my school. Not a ton of harmony, but it's a really fun song.
Some things are meant to be- Little Women
"How the Other Half Lives" - Thoroughly Modern Millie
"In His Eyes" - Jekyll & Hyde
Horrible suggestions, but eh.
"Who Will Love Me As I Am?" from Side Show goes into some nice harmony and ends with a beautiful belted C/Eb that sounds ace
Oh and some of the Carrie and her mother duets from Carrie have gorgeous harmony in them like "Evening Prayers" and "Eve Was Weak"
BABY DREAM YOUR DREAM (Sweet Charity) Beautiful but simple harmonies.
Check out all the options on the Skinner-Ripley albums. There's tons of good stuff on those!

I don't know how much harmony you're looking for, but For Good from Wicked is a really pretty song.

If Momma Was Married- Gypsy
Marry the Man Today- Guys and Dolls
Every Day a Little Death- A Little Night Music
Those were just the first three that popped into my head- they all involve some harmony, but maybe not as much as you're looking for. They're all great songs, though.
There's quite a few from "Wicked" - can't deny that. And I recall the first time I saw it with the original cast, How the harmony between Idina & Cheno impressed me. I wish the OBCR captured everything I heard onstage that night at the Gershwin but it somehow did not. I got goosebumps in the Gershwin hearing them sing a few things together. There may be a problem since "Wicked" being soooo big right now (The proportions of "Wicked" as it's won entity are awesome at this point I know) but if you can get beyond that and back to the score itself which is actually superb, then go for it.
That is my only problem with "Wicked" right now, It just got so big so fast and became it's own "Big Business" I think they don't care who they cast, in other words, they feel they can "skimp" on talent because the show is selling out on it's won anyway - that hurts me, since it is such a great piece to work with - with TRULY Gifted Talent to tell the story and sing it, that is.
Sorry I went off on a rant but I desired to justify my choice of the material from this show. Good Luck to You!
"We Are Women" from Candide.
But I'm warning you, if you're doing the Old Lady, the harmony is a bi*ch.

"Ohio" from Wonderful Town is a great song and a lovely duet.
Also "Nowadays" from Chicago.
And finally "Bosom Buddies" from Mame.
