I was wondering the same thing. I brings down their gross potential, so it looks better on paper. It will also feel fuller to both audience and actors, and if it's "selling out" it might have a slight advantage from a promotional standpoint. But does it do anything to the actual costs of running the show? Fewer ushers? I doubt the salary of those 3 people (or however many there are) in the balcony doesn't have that big of an impact.

I don't know what kind of concessions, if any, come to the producers/theatre owners by doing this, but, looking back at the Sister Act grosses from the same time, they were able to maintain their Gross to Potential and their Avg Ticket actually price increased slightly jumping up by $5 through October.
Fiddler has also adjusted their pricing structure to coincide with with the curtain closing. Their least expensive regular price option jumps to $49 from $35, While the top price drops from $147 to $140 tot he performances with the curtain closed. Weekends are currently listed at $49-$157. So Fiddler is probably hoping to sell about the same amount of seats at a slightly higher average price point to maintain their numbers through the slow season, and ahead of the holidays/closing, when they will undoubtedly do significantly better than the slow months.

Mr Roxy said: "The problem is the RR and O'Neill were already spoken for. No the problem is thinking you can take the same show, change stars and keep on reviving it over & over again. Todays millenials do not give a hoot about an old Jewish milkman. They simply went to the well once to often.
"
Agreed! However I feel like these type of revivals can use better casting choices to give them a boost.
Besides, Burstein I found most of the female supporting to be lacking. Why could they not have given Burstein an equally acclaimed Golde? Two stars is better than one. (IMHO of course)
