I feel like they're being optimistic with that date so far off.

I should feel lucky to have seen this production last month! I wonder if Cameron Mackintosh is gonna be taking Miss Saigon to the Broadway Theatre...

"

yes. I'd expect an announced within a month.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I'm glad I got to see this. It was new and fresh. I'm sure it would have done better in another season. Best of luck in the future for all those involved!

I absolutely love this production; I've seen it three times and will surely return again before it closes (whether it be in December, or sooner).

Thanks to Bart, Danny, Jessica, and the rest of the wonderful ensemble for a beautiful new production of one of the greats!

I am surprised the producers think it will last until than. I would not be surprised if it folded before than. If it makes it till than more power to those involved.

Well, good, now my plans for my November trip are definite. This was the only question mark left, regarding whether it would still be playing or not.

I know it's only making about 50% of its gross potential, but is the consensus thought that the $800K / week doesn't covers its running costs? I know it's a large ensemble and a large orchestra.

Yes, Miss Saigon will be the next tenant.

This show was really disappointing to me and my family. I thought it would close a lot sooner.

I agree. I felt this production would've won Danny Burstein the Tony had Hamilton been out of the way completely (or if Leslie Odom, Jr. had been ruled as Featured). But that really shouldn't take away all the great work he's been doing in it. I thought he was absolutely incredible as Tevye!

I think they're hoping this announcement will boost sales to those who have been on the fence about seeing it. Many might try and "fit it in" now.

New Years Weekend is turning into quite the bloodbath with AAIP, Matilda, and now Fiddler closing. Wouldn't be shocking to see others like Something Rotten, On Your Feet, and possibly Jersey Boys or Kinky Boots closing then too. Doubt it would actually be all 7 I just listed that close that weekend but 5 wouldn't surprise me.

I assume a show like this makes a lot of money off of group sales. Announcing the closing this far in advance gives the theater parties plenty of time to book their trip.

Could not agree more.

No matter when it closes, it's going to be Miss Saigon next.

Should we start to expect less and less revivals of golden age musicals? After the short runs of the king and I and now this?

Fiddler was simply revived one to many times. K&I closed because Kellie left and the production was so sumptuous that the high running cost did it in. The huge, but lush sounding orchestra, was a big culprit re it's high running cost. You will never see a revival like K&I again.

I don't know about "never."  I thought South Pacific was just as lush.  I thought Fiddler was just as lush in it's own way.

Which is a pity that K&I was never filmed for PBS

I'm pretty sure LCT will continue large scale revivals like King and I and South Pacific. It's sort of become their bread and butter and has brought them great acclaim. Wasn't there a rumor they had their eye on My Fair Lady next?
