Filming Of The Pajama Game Revival?

I was at Tuesday's performance of The Pajama Game. And there were many cameras taping the show.

I thought shows are usually taped around their opening.

Are they taping the show often for archives? I doubt that could've been the first time the show was offically taped.
And I also doubt they were taping it for a commercial release on a PBS/DVD thing.

Anyone know?

It was probably taped for the archives (which is usually done towards the end of a show's run). Now that the show is moving for an open ended commercial run, any plans there might have been for a showing on PBS or elsewhere would be off.

I'm assuming real cameras, not handhelds, right? Interesting.

Yes. It was a VERY official filming. Several cameras. The filimg people had their truck parked at the stage door, and we saw them loading the truck after the show.

The show was great . So glad I caught it. What a cast!

But now that it's extendind...damn.

Well, I'd doubt they'd still go through with the filming if it was aimed for PBS or something similar. I'm sure the re-opening was decided before today.
