Final If/Then Show

Anyone going to the final performance of If/Then Sunday? I'm going and can't wait to see it for the last time. One of my favorite shows of the last few years. Does anyone know who has been playing Stephen the past week? I'm pretty sure Jerry Dixon left.

I'll be there - I think there's quite a few posters going. The cast has been pretty vocal on social media about their emotions this week. I'm sorry to see it go but glad I will be at the Richard Rodgers on Sunday for what is sure to be a memorable performance.

It was completely sold out at least a month ago, though there might be cancellations. I highly doubt there will be a lottery, and the seat prices were actually raised a bit at some point before the final show was sold out.

Kind of odd that Jerry Dixon left the show with just a week to go. Unless he had already booked something else.

I would say that more than likely there will be a lottery. I can't recall a show ever canceling a lottery for the final show to sell those seats at full price. On Wednesday the lottery girl announced that Sunday was the last show and didn't mention not having a lottery that day.

I just had to look. There's 251 tickets for Sunday's performance on StubHub and the cheapest is $178 then next is $260. The prices become even more insane ... truly insane ...

I'm going with two other people so stage door will be a group decision. I don't expect to get autographs (I'm sure there will be tons of people who weren't at the show lining up) but I think it might be special to hang around just to give the cast one last cheer and thank you as they leave.

Ticketmaster seems to have seats open up from time to time for Sunday. Just confirming: there's only one show Sunday? I keep reading cast members saying "* shows left" or tonight they said "four shows left" and my count is coming up as three....2 for Saturday and one for Sunday. Am I missing something?

PS.....after explaining my daughter's situation, I was able to have her show card signed by leaving it at stage door and picking it up later.

I figured out the "4 left" thing. They were tweeting during the show and meant 4 curtain calls left.

We will be there Sunday but will most likely hang back at stage door. Daughter is already crying about the end of this chapter of her life and the loss of the If/Then characters. Endings and changes are hard for her.

Last year was a difficult one for us, experiencing a lot of tragedy and loss in our lives, including the sudden passing of my incredible mother. My daughter and I were both struggling to deal with the changes we were facing. And then we went to see If/Then.

If you are reading this thread, I would guess that you have some understanding of how the show can resonate with a viewer. Keeping the post short, I'll just say that what it brought to use, what we got from it, helped get us back on track, and helped us find the parts of ourselves that were strong and capable.

And the icing on the cake is that the people on the stage were not just performing the show, they were feeling it too, and the connections we saw play out in the story became real-life bonds. That love reached beyond the proscenium and we got more than just a show....we got a life experience. Can't say how sorry I am to see the show go, but will say that they SO got it right with this one (Kitt, Yorkey, Grief, crew and cast), and I am eternally grateful for having had the chance to share it.

delongpre, I'm glad the show managed to connect with people it was meant to, like yourself and your daughter. It's too bad it never had widespread appeal while on Broadway, but its characters and story are more specific instead of symbolic the way something like Wicked is, however imperfect it is. When it does connect, it has the potential to do so deeply (I've seen comments for example that described the emotional toll of the "I Hate You" scene vis-a-vis military duty). I hope it does decently on tour and catches more people.

I'm looking forward to seeing curtain call videos and Josh Snyder's last vlog episode, which I'm sure he'll release afterwards.

How long will the applause for Always Starting Over last, ya think? I'm wondering if the song will get a standing O. I've never seen that happen mid performance but I can't imagine it won't on Sunday

It'll be sad to see 'If/Then' go. This terrific show deserved so much more: a longer run, more rave reviews, Tony Awards, etc. But let's be glad for the run it had, and all the people who connected with it. And there's always the wonderful CD.

Anyone know if 'If/Then' is doing a lottery for the last show? If so, what time? I wonder how gigantic the crowd'll be ...

Delongpre, it might be too late now, but have you tried reaching out to anyone in the cast? Maybe through twitter. Explain your situation and maybe they'll stick around for your daughter. Or let her greet them backstage. Or come around the barrier specifically just for her. Of course nothing is guaranteed and you can't expect them to make any special arrangements, but you and your daughter seem to be big fans. It wouldn't hurt to ask.

Bwaydide92, my daughter has gotten to meet everyone in the cast except for Idina. They have all been amazing and awesome and patient and loving. The stage door people and house manager were aware of the situation when we went earlier this week and did not offer to have her meet Idina in any special way. I would not expect that, especially this week. They did go out of their way to have Idina sign her show card, which was very nice of them. My daughter also drew an amazing If/Then cartoon and sent it backstage for the cast, along with a letter expressing her thanks and response to the show. Hopefully Idina had a chance to see that. We stayed at stage door long enough to say hello to James, Anthony and Jenn, and my daughter was thrilled to meet Deedee, who voices a favorite character of hers in a cartoon. After 8 shows, 9 shows after tomorrow, we have yet to say hello to Idina. That's ok, because we will take with us all of the moments we have experienced in the theater. Stage door is the icing on the cake! Maybe some day we'll be able to tell her what it meant to us!
