Finale back in BILLY ELLIOT tonight (10/15)

Got a cell text from Greg Jbara when I was out and away from my computer:

"finale is going back in tonight. Feel free to post."

So, there you have it.

If its the same finale as in London,,, Im glad to hear it, that was such an uplifting way to end the show. Loved it!

I was pretty upset there was no curtain call, no nothing at the preview I saw on Thursday. Still thought it was an excellent musical but wish the ending had been somewhat more energetic, or that at least the principals got some sort of individual curtain call.
Looking forward to seeing the finale.

YAY! Having seen it both with and without... I like it better there.
Now what would you say if today I started over? Without a thing but this taped together four leaf clover And I'll pretend like everything is already alright And I'll run toward the sun till the castle's out of sight

Hopefully it's here to stay. It wasn't there Saturday afternoon when I saw the show.

I'm going back in April to see the show with some co-workers, and hopefully they'll enjoy the show as much as I did. (And I'll be excited to see this "new" curtain call - well, new for me.)

I heard they were going to try to put it back in at the beginning, but it confused the audience...

I wouldn't call it a finale - the story is over - but an extended curtain call that takes us back into show biz. I can see why they want to end that way instead of on the mixed happiness and sadness of Billy's departure.

Since I can't PM you Barb, when are we going to start up the Greg appreciation threads like in the DRS days? :)

Just wanted to mention that it's been indicated already a few times that the big extended curtain call wasn't being done for a while because of technical issues. It's not that they were thinking of dropping it.

WickedScoundrel: the Greg thread never actually ended - it just slowed down a lot. It's starting to pick up over on the off-topic board.

The way I understood it, it wasn't actually technical. They just felt that the stage was raked so steeply that it made the dance dangerous for some of the cast. For that reason they stopped it until they could get the surface of the stage refinished to give them a little more traction.

re: Finale back in BILLY ELLIOT tonight

Tonight they didn't do it, and I was talking to someone about if they took it out again. Then someone from the show came up to us and said that it's still in, but something spilled onstage, so they had to not do it because it was decided to be too dangerous. So they ended with an awkward curtain call.
