Hi All....I need your help....I live on the West Coast and my boyfriend and I are going to New York City for only 4 days in late March....He is going to see the Allman Brothers Band...I want to see one, maybe two musicals while I am there...I have already seen the touring company of Chicago with Belle Callaway and Step Pope five times in Seattle....In your expert opinions, which two musical should I see.........This will be the first time that I will visit your fabulous city.....Thanks...

Gypsy and Wicked. Also, refer to the thread below about picking 2 shows for others' opinions.
It depends on the type of show you enjoy. If you haven't seen Rent, it's best in NYC. After that, I'd suggest Hairspray for fun or Wicked for spectacle.

I second Mister Matt on seeing Rent. I also like Little Shop and Hairspray quite alot.

There's no such word in the English langiuage as "alot". Please consult your Funk and Wagnalls.

Come on people, there are 10 million people on this web site...Is this it?.....Has anyone seen Taboo?......or how about the Hugh Jackman musical.....Hugh is so sexy to me....and Peter Allen was a hoot.....Are these shows terrible?.....Speak up....
wicked, no question. rent is also great
Yes, definetely see The Boy from Oz with Hugh Jackman, it is a great show and Hugh gives the performance of a lifetime !!! But it would help if we knew a little more about your tastes. From the ones I've seen i'd definetely recommend HAIRSPRAY and RENT. Have fun in NYC, it is the best place on earth !!!
Take care

Thanks Greek.....I love talented sexy men......so Hugh Jackman is the one for me.....Now Wicked sound good, but kristen voice hurts my ears.....
Guess what I'm going to recommend? RENT! (duh!)
After that, definately Wicked! (I saw it today- it was AMAZING!!!) Go see it!
wicked and taboo...hands down...thats what i saw with my 3 days in nyc...and i don't regret one second. They are both fabulous for opposite reasons, so its a nice blend.
Taboo (you will love Jeffrey Carlson) and The Boy From Oz are great. Also, Hairspray and Mamma Mia!

Id say Wicked and Avenue Q....Hairspray and RENT are great but are touring so catch them by you
I would suggest Wicked (spectacle), Avenue Q (laughs) or Taboo (both, maybe a tear, too). Depending on your tastes, there's a little bit of everything within these three.

I wouldn't waste seeing Rent on Broadway, not only because I don't think it's a great show, but I've heard from a few people that the tourign production is better.
My picks are for Wicked and Thoroughly Modern Millie.
I don't want to be b*tchy here... but since becoming active on the board, I've seen at least 4-5 "what should I see" posts. It makes me wonder if we should have another poll out there that we can all vote on the "what show should I see" question.
An official pole? Rob/Craig, Please get on this ASAP!
Such a way with words...
I thought it would be good if everyone had a chance at the poll.
Sometimes you need to just get to the point.

It really does depend on your taste. I would say "Boy From Oz" because it IS a performance of a lifetime, and if you are a Hugh Jackman fan already, it is essential that you see this.
Wicked was great on spectacle and Kristin's and Idina's performance, but the music is totally forgettable.
Taboo has strong performances, beautiful music, and quite a bit of spectacle as well. And it is not as scary as people think it is.
Wonderful Town has beautiful music from an entirely different era, and very funny performances. Donna Murphy is excellent. Not much spectacle, but I found it endearing.
Hope this helps
If Cabaret was still on, I'd tell you to see that.... but since it's not:
Aida because it's such a beautiful story with amazing music.
Rent
Wicked, mostly for the brilliant performances by both Idina and Kristin
Thoroughly Modern Millie, because it's fun.... even though in March you will have missed Sutton Foster.

Taboo and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Susan Egan will be playing Millie by the time youre in New York, and while I'll miss Sutton dearly, Susan is likely to give an amazing performance. And Taboo has the best music on Broadway easily.
