In the coming months, Broadway will take a beating due to the credit crunch.
Jan/Feb & March 2009 will be a disaster.. It is a very bad time to br bringing in a new show now.
Any other thoughts?

not trying to be "witty"
but this is like the 8th thread on it, in the last week.
the world isn't over.
the economy WILL pick back up.
and so will Broadway.
the shows that have closed, because of the economy, were destined to close anyway.
It's a "crisis" for Broadway when it will effect shows like WICKED and JERSEY BOYS. But it's not really.

I understand that corporate entertaining (be it the theatre or sports events) is fairly big when business clients come to New York - that could also suffer from the economic downturn.
Maybe this could free up some of the good seats from premium ticket pricing?

A financial crisis is not Wicked closing. This is the most harebrained thing I have ever heard.
The post about freeing up parking is also on the unbelievable side.

Posted: 9/29/08 at 9:36pmI can only guess that Broadway will become a place only for MEGA hits hence the closing of Legally Blonde. People liked it but it was no "Producers". Shows that only fill an average of 60-70% will lose more money and now that the school year is in and the ****ty economy ...shows like "Chicago", "Spring Awakening" and similar will have no option other than closing. Maybe so maybe not. But Wicked, Lion King and Phantom will never die....... I hope thats not a jinks :P

Denial is not a river in Egypt
What will it take to convince you we are in deep doo doo? Will we all have to sell apples on the street or will you see the light before that
Maybe Wicked should close to get you to believe this is real.
