#1Finding Neverland vs. Something Rotten?
Posted: 3/7/15 at 11:45amI'm going to New York and I have to choose between seeing Finding Neverland and Something Rotten. I want to see Something Rotten because it seems very funny and fresh (and partly because of Christian Borle and Brian d'Arcy James), but I also want to see Finding Neverland because the story and music look really good. Which one would you choose?

Posted: 3/7/15 at 12:00pmYou'll find varying opinions here on Finding Neverland, based on the A.R.T. production, and Something Rotten is pretty much an unknown at this point. Finding Neverland on Broadway may be quite different than the A.R.T. version, with added songs, major cast changes and more elaborate design elements. It may be better, or it may end up being "something rotten". In other words, your best option may be to flip a coin and just take your chances.

"Why is it so difficult for people on this board to make their own decisions? Do you ask for advice with every choice in your life?"
Didn't ask for your rude ass. Should've put a disclaimer.
"Looking for others opinions. I was just wondering what you thought. I'm not relying on you for an answer. Thanks."

Posted: 3/7/15 at 6:17pmI think Something Rotten is going to be much better than Finding Neverland, but of course that's just speculation. But it caught my interest more than Finding Neverland.

I'm seeing both of them by April 20... And can give an informed opinion then. Not sure when you need to know by.
Do you need to book tickets right away? Or can you wait for previews and get some opinions at that point?

I have tix for "Something Rotten" (keep eyes open I may be looking for a plus one)
"Peter Pan" has never done anything for me. "Neverland" movie was ok but never had a desire to see again. "Peter" and "Never" have never appealed to me.
Why not choose whatever first jumps out as what you'd wanna see the most? Have someone blindly ask you, in person, which show and go with what you first answer with.

I'm betting on Something Rotten right now. I think it will be much more original and fun than finding neverland. Plus with Brian D'arcy and Christian Borle, you really can't go wrong.
However, I would imagine that the shows are wildly different. I'm sure Matthew And Kelsey will be superb as well,, with more of a traditional broadway style show.
If you've seen the film finding neverland, you would have an idea about the plot at least. Plus how big a fan of Peter Pan you are would likely factor into your decision.

Posted: 3/10/15 at 6:23amMy vote is Something Rotten given the premise, the actors, and the creative + producing team (Ave Q, Rent, In The Heights and others). Also I love Casey Nicholaw and his direction and choreography (BOM, Aladdin, Spamalot etc).
