A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

Thoroughly Modern Millie, another recent winner, never recouped.

The Boy from Oz actually did manage to recoup.

Wasn't Parade a nonprofit production (Lincoln Center)?

Oh, you're right about "Boy from Oz" recouping, but it closed 4 days after it recouped. "Parade" was at Vivian Beaumont, but I don't know if it was nonprofit. It played for 85 performances.

Parade was co-produced by Livent.

Oh, that's right. I had forgotten about Livent's involvement with Parade.

Boy from Oz may have barely recouped, but it recouped nonetheless, so it's not a flop. Though true, it just barely made it!

Amour anyone? 16 performances, and it gets nominated. It probably deserved a longer run than that.

musicmaster, does Kevin McCollum pay you directly in cash or in trade? I searched your thread comments and more than 90% of them were for In the Heights. Just asking because after defending Cry-Baby so much, I feel like I should write the producers requesting compensation.

Wasn't there a show called Starmites that was nominated for Best Musical?

Yes, Starmites was nominated for Best Musical. That show getting a nomination for Best Musical spurred reactions similar to ours when Cry-Baby was nominated for Best Musical.
