Musicismylife - was it that empty that you could easily move up? Sad , especially for a Saturday matinee the day before closing.
I doubt it was empty. It would have been a couple of premium seats perhaps that didn't sell. The sales this week have been very good, and I predict the grosses will be close to what they were back when they peaked around opening.

Musicismylifee, I was joking. Didn't mean to make you feel like you had to defend yourself.
Don't know if there was rush, but it was at TKTS in Times Square for 40% when I walked by around 2:30

There was rush. There appeared to be about 30-40 rush tickets handed out for the mezz, starting in the side of row J.

I went to the box office at 12:30 and was told by a person walking out that they got the last rush ticket and it was side mezz.
So I inquired at the box office to see what they had, I was told $97 or $137 no discounts were being honored.
So then I headed over to TKTS, when I saw it was up at 40% off
I was offered row X way to the side of the orchestra for $88 I passed on it.
Went back to the box office with a discount code from Bway box $85 and was again offered row X of the orchestra or 10th row side mezz(far in). So I didn't take that either.
I walked around time square a bit, pulled the discount up on my phone checked ticketmaster and was given Row N in the center. I then ran back to the box office showed the guy my phone and he sold me that seat at the discounted price.
I wonder why they weren't showing up sooner, Row N doesn't seem like a house seat
Anyone know why this could be?
Either way I'm happy I got such a great seat to an AMAZING final performance.
The Audience and cast were on Fire, you could tell you were in a room full of Love, I do have to say this audience was one of the best behaved audiences I've ever seen at a final performance. Bernadette's speech at the end was amazing.
I don't really have words to describe the performance I saw today.
My friend took me to see the show on Wednesday and ever since then I've been obsessed with it (I know I got into it late in the run), but I knew I had to be there today to see it One last time. .
An amazing Sondheim show with Great people, I truly wonder why this show doesn't sell out,
My friend and I were talking the other night about Bway and how we have stuff like Follies which is beautiful theatre, Beautifully written, Beautiful Score, Amazing Sets, Costumes, The cast was AMAZING everything abut it was beautiful.
Show's like Follies have trouble selling and then things like Phantom run for years? WHY?
Sorry I ranted
All In all an AMAZING final performance of a truly amazing show!
"I'm just a Broadway Baby"
Thank you to the Kennedy Center for giving us this beautiful production and most importantly, Thank you Stephen Sondheim
Thanks for the information, tking001! What all did Bernadette talk about in her speech? Anything specific, or was it the usually final performance speech?

I was sitting in Orchestra Center Row X for the closing and the audience around me was not well behaved at all.
In fact there was a screaming and swearing match between two men right before the second act started today. It all stemmed from one man confronting another about the sound of his candy wrappers during Act I. Which I have to admit that my head was about to explode when all my section heard during "In Buddy's Eyes" was crinkle crinkcl crinkle.
Well the man tapped the other on the shoulder and he starting screaming "Don't you f-ing touch me, I'll stop this f-ing show if you touch me again. ect ect. This was all happening as the lights were dimming.
Plus people kept getting up and going in and out all during Act I. I think about 5 or 6 times. Plus older folks talking and talking and flashlights looking at playbills. It was quite a distracting audience.
Nonetheless the show was just thrilling. As always.
I saw it in DC and 2 on B-Way. So sad to see it go.
I'll never get the image of Bernie standing in front of the flower drops for "Losing My Mind" out of my head. What a glorious theatre image.
FOLLIES is arguably the greatest musical of all time, but it didn't sell out because general audiences don't like it, and this production was not well enough cast or directed to make a strong impression on non-FOLLIES lovers.
I saw the original many, many times, including the opening night in NY, and the closing night, which really was one of the most exciting nights I have ever had in the theatre. From the moment they announced that Kurt Peterson was playing Young Buddy that night, and a roar went up in the theatre, to Dorothy Collins' first entrance, which stopped the show as she burst into tears, it was truly a night to remember. Nothing will ever top that.
