Theatre Royal Haymarket has quite a big stage, especially depth wise. It can house complex sets and can fit quite a large cast on stage. Follies would be a great fit here I think - the Haymarket crowd would go for this show.
Trevor Nunn's production is rumoured to be his finale to his season at the theatre starting in November 2011 thru to Feb or March 2012.
Bernadette Peters has been linked the role heavily, apparently depending on if the DC production transfers. Megan Mullallay was reportedly approached too. It all seemed to go into a bit of chaos with the DC show and Ms Peter's availability. Apparently Elaine Paige was keen to reprise her Carlotta role too for the new West End production...

Posted: 6/2/11 at 8:19amCould Elaine Paige sing Sally? Truth be told, now that she knows the show (she apparently knew very little about it prior to the DC rehearsals) I wouldn't at all be surprised if it were a part she'd think she could pull off and would be gunning to now play.

Isn't all this talk of Bernadette looking to do both productions from a Reidel column? Since when have so many people restated a Reidel column as fact?
It certainly would make sense if Bernadette wanted a shot at it on Bway, but then we also heard she went for this one because it had a full 30-piece orchestra, which any Bway revival probably would not.

No, it's from the NY Times.

In 30 years of theatre going, I've only ever known two musicals in the Theatre Royal, Haymarket. It normally seems to house serious, classical drama.
Did Follies girls ever play their own instruments?
I'm not quite sure about Trevor Nunn's concept for the poster design either...
...don't think I'll be buying the pillow.

"Gary Griffith's production might be better and its apparently going to be just as lavish."
Where did you hear that? Just curious about it... I'll be seeing that production this fall, and I have pretty high hopes. As great as the art for the Kennedy Center production was, I think I like this one more:
Well, it's definitely better than the previously posted artwork for the London production.

Posted: 6/2/11 at 4:59pmLet's just assume that FOLLIES is revived on Broadway again in one form or another. wouldn't it be great to have Patti LuPone play Carlotta?

and that would probably be the one move that would keep me away.
She definitely has her fans - and then there are those who wouldn't cross the street to see her. Unfortunately I'm in the last crowd.
