They begin selling them (if the show is sold out) 2 hours before curtain now. I went to the box office this morning and luckily there was a woman there who worked at the theatre who told me. She said that they've been doing this for about 2 weeks now. I didn't see that mentioned in any of the other threads, nor is it on Broadwayforbrokepeople. Just thought I'd let people know of the change!
Have a lovely day.

I saw "Shuffle" last week and offer this as, not so much as a criticism as info...they are selling SRO but they are selling too many. I can understand trying to accommodate as many people as they can however the house does not know how to handle it imo. For the no late seating policy, they are overselling so that people are standing along the wings down to the exit signs. My seat was mid side orch but people were in the aisle, bags and backpacks on the floor, concessioning, and unruly..."uh- Huh" "that's right". The loud patron is one thing but people constantly moving back and forth is distracting. I mentioned it to usher at intermission and all I got was...they'll probably find a seat for the 2nd act...just fyi

What time would you recommend getting to the box office?

I seriously doubt that those people were holding SRO tickets. When I got an SRO ticket for my girlfriend last week, they only sold 10, and supposedly that's a fairly standard number for them to sell (though sometimes it's as high as 16, I was told). What you're talking about sounds less like SRO people, and more like people who just showed up late to the show and weren't allowed to sit down due to the no late seating policy. People who buy SR tickets have a specific SRO spot along with back, with a "seat" number and everything. I don't think they even COULD sell SR tickets that weren't in those designated spots if they wanted to.

I got there at about 4:45-ish on Friday (they began selling at 6). They were selling 10 tickets, and I got the last one. Well, technically there was one more since the person in front got randomly handed a free ticket by a woman whose friend cancelled, but if that random stroke of luck hadn't happened, my ticket would have been the last.

I did standing room today, and can confirm the theater did allow more than just the SRO folks to stand in the back. I was in the center section, stationed at my assigned spot, and there were 4-5 people watching the show from behind me, leaning against the stairway railing. They arrived before the show started, so were definitely not late comers with ticketed seats.

As a sometime usher there, yes, becauae of the strict no late seating policy, people are requested to stand downstairs. Also, sometimes, understudies/staff stand back there. However, due to fire codes, aisles, etc, must not be blocked.

I got there at 3:45 yesterday (with SRO sales starting at 5 for a 7 pm curtain), and was second in line. Two people arrived immediately after me, with most showing up after 4:15. I was actually surprised more people weren't there earlier.

how has the SRO line been for Wednesday matinees? Might be able to do it next week. If I get there by 11am, should I be ok?
