OK...I was listening to "The Producers" in my car today, and when listening to HOP-CLOP, I realized that to my knowledge, HOP-CLOP, OOM-PAA-PAA (Oliver!) and depending on how you feel about the song, BRING ON THE MEN (cut from Jekyll & Hyde) are the only musical theater numbers styled after old fashioned drinking songs. Can anyone think of any others? Just a completely random thought.
And now back to my Guiness...

Ahh how could I forget that one! Shame on me! That's my favorite moment in Les Miz and is a great full company number.

Posted: 12/12/05 at 3:21pmI think people are getting confused....it's not about the song being ABOUT drinking or mentioning it, but more or less then structure of the music being like an old fanshioned drinking song. They have a definate, 3/4 waltz structure most of the time.
