Did any Equity actor receive an offer yet from The Forestburgh Playhouse for the 2010 summer?

They're probably sending out calls this week. Were you at the auditions?

A friend of mine got hired there back in the 80s; she arrived and found the conditions so horrible, she departed in the middle of the night, leaving a note that a family emergency called her away. While I look askance at the unprofessionalism of the act, picturing it still makes me chuckle.

Well, that was 20 years ago. If the theatre can afford to hire a NY casting agency and spend several weeks in NY auditioning, I hope they've spent some money improving facilities.

I've always thought it was more a place for non-unions to get some really summer-stocky experience and start building points - don't know how they would rank to an Equity actor.

My non equity friend who worked there a few seasons ago absolutely loved it, but it is a LOT of hard work.

newintown, things have greatly improved since then. I can attest.

It's a modest theatre with a well-known, long-time producer. They get to do certain shows before many people get to, like Hairspray last year and Avenue Q this year. It's a lot of hard work, but it gets you lots of [fast] experience.

In an environment like it is nowadays, employment is employment. I'm sure some Union actors would be more than happy to go there, if only to get a few insurance weeks. But they do get some actors with Broadway credits. A few seasons back, Bruce Sabath from the recent Company revival starred in a couple productions. Work is work I guess.

Thanks! I'm sure it's a great place to work. I've heard great things. I'm just trying to plan my summer out and was curious if offers had already gone out.

Your guess is as good as mine. I'd be curious to know as well. Were you called back for any role(s), michaels?

Seeing as rehearsals start in a little over two weeks, I'd hope so!
