I was just thinking about the shows and plays I've seen this year. Normally they evoke emotions, you'll either like it or dislike it and - very importantly - you can remember why. Us BWW'ers take our theatre serious enough to form an opinion, right? But what about the stuff you literally can't remember a single thing about? You have the ticket or playbill as proof that you went to see it but that's about it. Did you sleep through it? Were you not feeling well?
For me this season it was "King Lear" at BAM. I remember Ian McKellen in a very ornate costume but nothing else.
Any other BWW'ers who have had utterly forgettable theatre experiences?
As hard as I try, I really can't remember much of Hot Feet.
Buskers
Busker Alley
Stage Door Charley (which is what it was when I saw it)
I know people on here loved it, but for me it was The Seafarer. I know I saw it... I've got the playbill and ticket stub. But I really can't remember anything other than not being able to relate to it and not liking it.
among the most forgettable, for me, in recent years:
(and some of these I really liked...they just left little/no impression on me)
The Apple Tree
Curtains
Heartbreak House
Legally Blonde
Prelude to a Kiss
The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial
Hot Feet
La Cage aux Folles (revival)
Lennon
The Odd Couple
Ring of Fire
The Woman in White
All Shook Up
The Glass Menagerie
On Golden Pond
Steel Magnolias
The Phantom Of The Opera (i know i stink)
The Wedding Singer. After the first 20 or 30 minutes, almost every song seemed to blend together into a mish-mash of 80's style synthesized music. "It's Your Wedding Day" was one of the few memorable tunes in the show.

I have the playbill and ticketstub, yet not other recollection of seeing Nine. It was horribly boring, and the worst show to pick for a first trip to NY.

Aw, I wish you had loved NINE. I saw it at least 5 times, and it is one of the best experiences I have ever had in the theatre.

I was looking forward to it, but it just wasnt my cup of tea...
Well, when I was younger, I saw the tour of "Peter Pan." I can remember exactly where I sat, what I wore, and where we ate dinner after. But, with the except of a few random moments - mainly the part about believing in fairies to save Tinkerbell - the show itself is a blank.
The early 80s tour of "Camelot" with Richard Harris was also very forgettable. All I remember was how ridiculous that blonde pageboy wig and blue eye make-up looked...and glimpses of Harris smoking in the wings between scenes. Right under the NO SMOKING sign.
More recently, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." It was amusing while I was actually in the theatre, but it's a show I barely remembered the next day.
the pirate queen... all I remember is how bad it was!
Hairspray
Mary Poppins
Even extraordinarily painful experiences like GOOD VIBRATIONS and TARZAN weren't forgettable for me. I remember the pain and suffering.
I actually agree with you on DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS. I had a good time, but nothing about it stuck with me.
How could anyone forget Tarzan? Starring at Josh....
I saw Jersey Boys in January, and it was one of the most memorable Broadway experiences I've had, along with August: Osage County.
I saw Legally Blonde on TV, but after I saw it at the Palace, I only remembered the MTV taping of the show. I only remember being at the stage door. I guess I was too distracted or something.
I saw Cry Baby a few nights ago and am already losing any memory of it- which is not a bad thing. It wasn't as awful as many people have been saying, there just wasn't much there. And seeing Passing Strange the next night totally dwarfed it even more in comparison.

Spelling Bee and Wedding Singer for me.

The recent revival of Barefoot in the Park.
I remember vaguely that song Downtown playing as housemusic, Tony Roberts on the roof, the moving man arriving at the foot of the stairs, and Patrick Wilson's moments of insanity.
State Fair
Mary Poppins

Wonderful Town, save for a few moments.
The Boy From Oz, I just remember being a very uncomfortable 14-year-old.
The Frogs, I remember sitting in the Front Row and LOVING the show, but that's it.
Les Miz (Original Production), I remember being disappointed by "I Dreamed A Dream" and finding the whole thing depressing.
Two decades ago I saw Athol Fugard's Blood Knot on Broadway. I couldn't have told you anything about it five minutes after I saw it and I couldn't tell you anything now... except there was one scene with an umbrella.
Most of the cummunity productions I saw as a young child.
