I think it would work very well; more so than Dracula. If only, if only...

but I doubt it.

Ummm.... yeah. You can download all the songs for the real FRANKENSTEIN THE MUSICAL here...

http://frankensteinthemusical.com/

You better take something before you listen, cuz' I think you'll find it quite good. I mean, I liked DRACULA... but this is the kind of stuff I'd like to see on Broadway... Updated On: 11/3/04 at 07:49 PM

Isn't Mel Brooks making a musical out of Young Frankenstein?

I SAW Frankenstein at the NYMF. It was bloody awful. A real bore. Is this thread a joke? It truly is a musical, and the director has high hopes for it (so he told me, poor misinformed fellow.)

It's a joke and the songs were meant to improve the show

I think Brooks is!

I dunno... I think "The Coming of The Dawn" is one of the best songs I've heard ever...

Poor misinformed CATS re: Frankenstein, the Musical I wish YOU had to sit through Frankenstein with me! It was sheer torture. I went as a joke-why not if they can do Dracula, right? But the music doesn't advance the story and the songs are not melodic--they're quite uninventive. It would need a LOT of work to end up back on a New York stage. Why not try a theater in Transylvania?

Hey, I can't speek for the show itself. I never saw it. But when I listened to the CD I really liked a lot of the songs. I can't help liking what I like. No one can choose to like something...

Young Frankenstein is not the story of Frankenstein, its about Dr Frankenstein's nephew (I believe that's the relation), Dr Frankenstein (pronounced Frahnkensteen). And yes, Mel Brooks is working on it, and last I heard Cheno wanted the female lead (whose name escapes me at the moment)

actually, this Frankenstein looks different than the one I saw at NYMF, and both are NOT Young Frankenstein. Maybe there are 3 musicals

There are at least three 'Frankenstein' musicals -- one premiered in Canada somewhere about six years back too.

They're all bad.

There are actually 4 frankenstein the musicals

Wildhorn is writing one
theres young frankenstein by mel brooks
theres the one that premiered at nymtf
and theres the one other one (which I always forget who is writing it)

"Judy Garland, Jimmy Dean, You tragedy Queen" ~ Taboo

"Watching a frat boy realize just what he put his d!ck in...ex's getting std's...schadenfruede" ~ Ave Q

"when dangers near, exploit their fear" ~ Reefer Madness the Musical

Yes, Madeline Kahn's role.

After much searching lol, I included the link. Makes sense Wildhorn is writing on one, you just have to wonder if it'll get producers... actually, of course he will, afterall, he got one for Drakula, even after Scarlet Pimpernel...

CatsNYRevival, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I went to the website and listened to several of the song clips and they were terrible. I hope the creators don't waste any more time on this show.

Actually, it's about the Doctor's grandson.

As for Cheno -- is it the role of Frankenstein's fiance (the role played by Madeline Kahn), who was a bit on the repressed side, or the role of Inga, played by Terri Garr that she wants?

Never mind I saw your link... but I would have thought she would be good in the role of Inga. Updated On: 11/4/04 at 01:31 PM

NO! Why must you bring SP into this. Sure it arrived on Broadway early, but it matured into a wonderful show.

David walked into the valley With a stone clutched in his hand He was only a boy But he knew someone must take a stand There will always be a valley Always mountains one must scale There will always be perilous waters Which someone must sail -Into the Fire Scarlet Pimpernel
