I noticed those tickets are substantially less than a few rows back...is the stage prohibitively high at the Golden?

It's not that high but I'd go a few rows back if you can afford it. Also the leg room is pretty cramped front row center.

I sat second row and it wasn’t too close at all.

This depends where you sit. The row is curved, so the seats by the aisle are tight, but center of the row was great, no real complaints for the price (admittedly I got them during the $39 promo)
