Does FRANK LANGELLA and MICHAEL SHEEN come out and sign autographs....
I'm going to the show this week and would like to get my playbill autographed.
Where do they exit? I know there is more than one exit but is it the traditional one in the alley or do they come out the side door of the actual theatre as apparantly shows have been doing as of recent?

there is hardly a need to bump a thread after only an hour after it was posted.

uhhh I did search.... Nothing came up. See... Now you search! take your own advice. People on here are really rude.
I saw a guy a couple of nights ago with a Tonys poster that had Langella's autograph on it (He was outside the Biltmore waiting for Cerveris and Murphy). I asked him your exact question and he said that Langella uses the "Julia" door and that it took him nearly an hour after the show to appear. I didn't ask about Michael Sheen.
When I saw it (granted during VERY early previews) they were using the same door as Ave Q. Michael just put on a hat and slipped right through before anyone who was there from seeing Frost/Nixon realized it. I didn't hang around to see if Frank came out. Frankly I was getting annoyed by the Ave Q groupies.

They both use the alley, unless there are guests backstage. Sheen tends to go through the alley more often than not, Langella the Julia door.
What is the Julia door?

It's the door closest to the Plymouth's stage door. That's where Gary (the grey-haired gentleman who I assume is head of security/head body-guard for the Shuberts) led Julia Roberts out following Three Days of Rain, rather than the alley behind the Milford. Since then, the actors in shows at the Royale have had the option to use that door to exit. Martin Short and his cast used it and now Langella uses it.

I was lucky enough to attend Frost/Nixon on Friday 6/1 (my first ever Broadway show). I had no idea where or how to get autographs. I told my son (who's 19), "I've always seen that show biz cliche' where fans hang out at the stage door after the show. Let's see if we can meet Mr. Langella or Mr. Sheen." About 30 minutes after the show, Mr. Langella emerged from a door at the front of the theater, to the left of the main entrance. He was very kind and polite, spoke with everyone and signed about six autographs. A few minutes later, Mr. Sheen emerged from the alley to the right of the theater entrance, and was also very nice, signing a few autographs. Both could not have been more accomodating and friendly. Plus I saw and met Elaine Stritch, who hung around to see Mr. Langella. A great ending to a great night. Hell of a play, by the way.
That sounds like a great experience!
3david, did both Langella and Sheen sign for everyone who was there? Also, the alley and the Julia/Langella door are not that close to each other -- could you keep both of them in view at the same time?

Yes, they signed for all who waited...it was maybe 8 people for Langella and 6 for Sheen.
The doors are a good bit apart. We first waited for Langella (about 30 minutes), and by good fortune, after we met him, we walked down to the alley, and within five minutes Sheen came out. So we were very lucky.
When I was there a couple of weeks ago, I noticed Michael Sheen come through the alley and slip through unnoticed past the Avenue Q fans, as others have mentioned. Another evening I noticed Frank Langella also leaving through that door. He seems to alternate his exits. I can also tell you that I left a playbill and note for the two of them and received it back through the mail a couple weeks later so if you miss them at the stage door there are other options.
