I have the opportunity to see one show tonight, and I narrowed it down to these two (mostly based on run time and ticket availability). Which do you recommend? I've heard raves for both of these shows and I'd just like some opinions.

Do you want a musical or a play? They are vastly different, imo. But I'd go with Fun Home hands down!

To each his own. Guess the nominations for various awards is nothing more than a fluke. Oh well.

FUN HOME. I don't know why people are so excited about The Humans. I thought that it was merely fine.

I really liked The Humans but you just can 't compare it with Fun Home.

Fun Home, like most musicals (except the really good ones by Sondheim, LaChiusa, etc.) tells you what you should feel loudly and in song. If you want to have any kind of interactive experience, one that makes you think and feel, go with The Humans.

Huh? You realize they're two different seasons, right? Fun Home WON Best Musical last year.

Fun Home. I thought The Humans was okay, but not ultimately that satisfying.

You're thinking of The Phantom of the Opera.
Fun Home is a beautifully acted and directed piece of musical theatre.
The Humans is a beautifully acted and directed piece of straight theatre.
It's really a win-win situation, but personally I'd go for Fun Home, if only because it will go down in the record books. I also feel like I got more bang for my buck, and an actual STORY out of Fun Home, which you can't really say about The Humans.

Ugg, Fun Home is the opposite of everything you just said. It is one of the most intimate evenings of theatre you will find.
What did The Humans make you feel/think about? I'm genuinely curious.

What show did you see? I felt like I'd rarely seen something that dealt so much with emotional specifics in songs rather than broad announcements of feelings.
