Hey-
Today in TaG (Talented and Gifted) Theater Arts, we received our syllabus for the 3rd six weeks-and the first thing we heard about was our scenes we are to perform for our final. Here's the thing: We are working in partners (mine is guy and girl) and I was wondering if you all had any ideas on great scenes (preferably funny/entertaining..lol) to perform. The scenes have to run anywhere from 3-7 minutes.. and have to be "in good taste"..meaning nothing too innapropriate please. It can be from either a play OR a musical. Thanks for your help! I really appreciate it!

I wasn't really sure if we are allowed to do songs or not..I was sort of mis-informed about this..I heard from our teacher that we could..but I think when I asked her if we could do stuff from musicals, she meant just scenes..:-/ But thanks..

There about six funny scenes (male/female) in the play "Lovers and Other Strangers"

I'm doing a scene right now from "Sex Lives of Superheroes." Definitely funny.

Why do we play with fire? Why do we run our fingers through the flame? Why do we leave our hands on the stove, although we know we're in for some pain? -tick...tick...BOOM!

I dont know if you could find it or not, but I have a script in manuscript format called ROOM AT THE INN that was performed about 10 years ago in Toronto. It has a truly laugh out loud scene between a guy and his best friend's sorta kinda girlfriend. Nothing out of line, but a hysterical scene.

There are a lot of great scenes by Christopher Durang or David Ives

The scene All in the Timing is great, I can't remember if it's Durang or Ives though. re: Funny/GREAT Scenes For Boy-Girl?

Also check out works by John Guare such as The House of Blue Leaves,

Or scenes from The Nerd or The Foreigner by Larry Shue

Yes that's me. No, it's not a Rent homage.

In acting class today I just saw a scene from "The Shape of Things" that was very good. It wasn't hysterically funny, but it was very interesting.

Hmm..we just did scenes from Barefoot in the Park which I wish I could do again because that is a great play-and I saw The Importance of Being Earnest last week..but had a hard time following it..besides that show seems a little hard to do well..:-/ I'll check out all of these other ones though! Thank you all so much!

The scene that comes before Adelaide's Lament from Guys and Dolls is very entertaining to me - oh, and it's different from the one in the movie.

Same Time Next Year is very funny. It's about a couple who meet in a hotel and have sex and then go on with their lives, but for a bit every year they have sex. Very witty. "Im a virgin...sort of"

I love "All I Need is the Girl," from Gypsy. It's not especially funny, but it's very sweet.

I was going to suggest Light My Candel until i saw it couldnt be "dirty" or a song...hmmm.... maybe look into "Lend Me A Tenor", there are some really funny scenes in there. Kind of sexual but not THAT bad- not Rentish, but still really great.

I was also going to suggest a scene from Millie - the part where Millie and Mr. Graydon are in the office, Millie does the whole "Tom Sawyer" bit.. it was hysterical if done right!
