The first lady thread got me thinking. Who do you guys think the future broadway legends will be? Sutton may be one.

Definitely Sutton Foster, and probably Audra McDonald, if she isn't already one.

Cosette: Roses are red. Marius: Violets are blue. Eponine: You're so in love! Marius: And so not with you.

Adam Guettel and Scott Frankel and Michael Korie to me are sure to be the legendary songwriters of this generation the way Sondheim and Kander and Ebb were of the last. They're just so damned good.

I don't want to speak too soon but it also seems like Leslie Kritzer is developing a big name for herself.

First name that crossed my mind was Leslie Kritzer

I think in order for them to be a legend, they have to do something spectacular and then be absent for awhile. A person really isn't a legend when you can see them perform eight times a week year after year.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

...What has Kritzer been in? I honestly had never heard of her before Legally Blonde (and isn't her part fairly small?). According to IBDB, she's only been on Broadway in Legally Blonde and as a replacement in Hairspray, so what am I missing?

She was in "Leslie Kritzer is Patti LuPone at Les Mouches."

And speaking of Legally Blonde people, I also have high hopes for Annaleigh Ashford.

One time, Patti LuPone punched me in the face...

It was awesome.

Audra

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

She did a nice imitation of Patti LuPone. How does that make her someone who should be considered a future legend? With wonderful musical achievements like Floyd Collins and Piazza (Guettel) and Grey Gardens (Frankel and Korie), these three are destined to become at least quite prominent.
Other people that come to mind- Victoria Clark and Michael Cerveris. Yes, they've been wonderfully successful, but they're not legends in the way that someone like Stritch (even Christine Ebersole) is!

Audra McDonald
Krsitin Chenowith, I don't agree, but in time she will be remembered.
Sutton Foster
Christine Ebersole

Leslie has another musical coming up after Legally Blonde. She is on the rise. Audra is pretty much a legend already in my book.

sweetest: The fact that she's awesome and her star is on the rise! She was also in The Great American Trailer Park Musical off broadway and won the Clarence Derwent award (for promising young stars)

And Gotham: I actually disagree. I think a legend is someone who is ever-present in the community. A workhorse who gives stellar, legendary performances time and time again. Though having them gone for a while does build excitement for their shows when they do them.

Leslie was also an amazing Tracy in hairspray. It's awesome to see how far she's come. I think Lea Michele will have an amazing career. Not sure if she'll be a legend, but she'll have a very good career.

Audra's already a legend. I mean, when I win four Tonys, I would hope to be considered a legend.
