I know it won't be a long-lasting thing, but GG got a huge spike from the Tonys this week. Tuesday's performance was sold out, which I believe was the first time that's happened since October or November, and almost all the available tickets for the weekend shows have been sold.
I don't know where your information is coming from -- if you're making it up or what, but I was in the audience on Tuesday night and there were empty seats all around me. The show was not sold out on Tuesday.

"Didn't the Playbill article that said Spring Awakening got a big bounce from the Tonys say that Grey Gardens and Curtains also have increased ticket sales?"
I'm sure they have increased ticket sales, but they didn't drop the word "huge" in there. If they made an extra $150, on Monday, they'd have still reported that they saw a rise after the Tonys.
What people seem to forget about empty seats is this: It doesn't mean the seat wasn't actually SOLD. The patron could have not shown up for whatever reason.
I was there and it was jam packed. I know it's doing really well, too.
I do wonder if they'll try to make it to the one year anniversary of the show and then close it.

Like I said I'm hopeful it'll hang on until Oct., when Christine Ebersole's contract expires. (this would make sense.)

Where were you sitting, bwaygal1? Jam packed?! Your avatar says your opinion is biased.

All my avatar says is that I was at the Tonys when Christine Ebersole took the Tony that was hers.
I was in the front row of the orchestra. I looked good and hard at the crowds. And I've been a number of times. It was packed.
I was there Sun. before the Tonys and it was packed then, too. THe only seats they've been able to give to TKTS are obstructed and those are at 35% off. I talked to people who went last night. It was crowded. THe big test is the next few weeks.

Also I would suspect that any empty seats may have been seats that brokers purchased and didn't sell.
I am planning an "emergency trip" to NYC in July to catch Grey Gardens. Was hoping Company would still be open but we know it won't now. Flights are a bit expensive but I really want to see this show.
