"What's with all the Stephen Schwartz? Didn't they recently announce Children of Eden was coming to Broadway in the near future? I get it Wicked's a hot property but is it really necessary to bring back his older less successful shows?"
Godspell is hardly less successful in the Schwartz rep. it ran 2,124 performances off-broadway and 527 on broadway. Children of Eden is a different story, having never played broadway, but Godspell is Schwartz' most successful show to this date, in terms of # of performances in New York and regionally.

I saw that production with Goldstein directing at Paper Mill, and I really can't wait to see it again on BROADWAY!!!
I told my best friend about this show (and she loves the score so much), and it was such a great production of it. I really wanted her to have seen it at Paper Mill, so now that it's going to Broadway, she may get the chance she missed.
I want Shoshana to be in it!
Am I the only one who didn't like the Papermill production?

Prepare ye the way of the bores!
Dolly,
Did you see the original Off-Broadway production?
Thoughts?

Yes, i saw the original Off- Bwy production, the transfer to the Promenade (several times) and the actual Bwy production. I've also seen a trillion school and church productions of the show.
I liked it, but it's been done to death.
Enough!

How have people been talking about the Papermill production for so long without having mentioned Sara Chase?
She sang "Bless the Lord" and she was DYNAMITE.
And that's coming from someone whose most played song on iTunes is the Shoshana Bean version by more than a few plays.
She needs to get back on a stage yesterday.
I agree Dolly - ENOUGH!
How about a revival of Mame, On the 20th Century, Hello Dolly, The Most Happy Fella (with orchestra).
Or better yet - new shows.
But Godspell ... AGAIN!?????
Oh bless the Bores my Soul.

Sara Chase was amazing in the PaperMill version of Godspell...She definately made Bless the Lord her own...Everyone held there own in this production...no one tried to out shine anyone...but i would have to say my favorite part was Telly Leung's All Good Things...It was just amazing...it was very simple there was so no staging to it...he was sitting on a box and the cast was sitting on the stage floor listening to him...It was just a great moment to see how well they all bonded!
"InfiniteTheaterFrenzy totally stole my line! I was going to say that the Groff rumors would start immediately. If we're going off of the movie version of "Godspell", ain't no one on Broadway right now more young-Victor-Garber-esque then dear sweet Groff..."
SarahNYC, I'm just glad someone understood what I meant!
This cast sounds great, but it seems few would be able to reprise their roles, based on their current projects...

I can't believe they are reviving this show. Sorry...but this piece annoys me to the core.
