Some of the critcism of Gypsy will be transferred to the newer Broadway openings. The natural progression of musical theatre criticism.

I didnt hear that Spamelot was necessarily going to the Shubert. and it opens in 2006, so it could possibly be dark for a while.

Spamalot is next at the Shubert. It has a tryout in Chicago in the winter, and will be at the Shubert in spring, 2005.

i know im (very) late, but i just bought the cast recording to gypsy and i enjoy it a lot. peter's voice isnt what it used to be, but it seems to work for the character. as ive said before, i hope she doesnt stay away from broadway too long.

She needs to take a long break. Starting with a long Calgon bath. And then; when she does come back she needs to do something new. Enough with the revivals.

I take it from comments she has made in the past, revivals are not Bernadette Peters' first love, and her career is filled with mostly new work. But the musical theatre roles for a woman of a certain age are few and far between. What's a girl to do?

And no accents. When I heard her in "Annie Get Your Gun" on BWW Radio, I could hear my relatives in SC moaning in agony.

I would love to see her do a career retrospective show.

NO, not yet! Bernie needs to keep going for 20 more years. THEN we get to see the retrospective Bernadette Peters At Liberty.

DAME THAT WAS TASTELESS.
I am sorry Gypsy is no longer running. It was an excellent production and I liked Bernadette in the role no matter what Riedel or anyone says.

Aw, it wasn't that bad, Corine. Let's just hope Murphy wins the Tony and that jerk has to buy Peters lunch. :)

*ahem* Putting speculation to rest.... Spamalot WILL in fact be opening at The Shubert, with previews beginning late this year.
The Shubert won't be completely dark all summer -- a few benefits will be held there.

Riedel may be a jerk but it is all an act. I have met him and he seems nice. It is an act. It is sad he is very handsome in a nerdy smart way.

aw, I'm sad to see it go... but I think Gypsy has been a bit over-revived. It needs a rest.
