Mr. Roxy aren't you a conservative? Don't you trust the market to set the prices? Why should oil be any different than Patti LuPone Tickets? Lots of people want 'em why shouldn't they go up? Please explain why Gasoline prices are free to float and Gypsy tickets are not.

Number 1 - for the umpteenth time - I am a registered Independent & more centrist than anything.

Now that the laughter has stopped, I must address your statements. There is a big difference between oil & Patti Lupone & Gypsy. The latter is a luxury . If it closed now , the world would not stopped spinning. If the oil stopped, we would have a bit more of a problem

Broadway is a luxury & becoming more of one every day. Oil is a necessity. You can do without Gypsy but not without Oil

It is their right to charge $ 1 K per ticket. It is their right. I just think it is stupid & will hurt them in the long run. Greed is a human trait. Just as all forms of entertainment, from Sports to broadway are pricing themselves beyond the means of many ,people are saying enough is enough.

I will not pay it but if you will great. I think it a bit hypocritical to complain about oil but pay astronomical prices for broadway or pay $ 5 for coffee at Starbucks. It is all about priorities. paying $ 270 to see a show ain't a priority for me.

Well we shall see, won't we? If ticket sales dry up then you were right and they were wrong and you will have the joy of crowing about it.

Personally, if they DIDN'T raise prices I'd worry they were stupid! May hay while the sun shines.

When you regulate something, you create a shortage where there was none & prices will go up. Regulating oil smacks of socialism.

How do you regulate the waste in our useage? We need to increase supply & not depend on the arabs to do it. We also need to explore nuke power which, to his credit, Obama is now hinting at. In France, they produce 50 % of their power thru nuke power. In the US, it is 20 %

We also need to build more refineries but good luck getting one built in the current climate of NIMBY.

To Joe, I will not crow about it. I am sorry for those shut out of the Broadway experience because it is simply becoming to much of a luxury they cannot afford. As I said, if they want to charge $ 1 K so be it.

And Mr. Roxy if we could just build more Patti LuPones, ticket prices for Gypsy would no doubt come down. But again, who wants a Patti LuPone in their backyard?

Because the un-regulated energy in California during the Enron days was such a success. To blame high prices on regulation is ridiculous.

Gee! I feel fortunate. I had aisle seats, row C on the right, where Patti makes her entrance, with discounts from broadwaybox.com.
And my point is: if you feel a show is going to be hot, get there early (easy to say if you live near NY).

Rising prices are caused by speculation & an increasing worldwide demand for oil without a commensurate increase in supply.

Until both problems are addressed, prices will go up.
