Just had a thought, the London production of GYPSY starring Imelda Staunton is running through November. Wonder if they had thought of casting a replacement instead of closing it. Do you think they may consider Ms.LuPone, or do you even think she would do it! I think it would be interesting to see her revisit the role, but in a different production. Thoughts?

They are not bringing this to New York but if they did it would be one of the best revivals ever.

The show is closing since it's a limited season and Guys and Dolls will being previews at the Savoy a few days later... and then after having the incredible acting of Imelda I don't think Patti would be so well received in London

Even if Patti expressed some interest, I don't think Arthur Laurents would allow it. I wouldn't put it past him to include such a clause in his will. Even in death....

Patti was incredible in this role and would show West End audiences what it is like to hear a true powerhouse sing this score. I'm sure her Tony award-winning performance would go down fine.

There was talk of the patti production transferring after broadway but they thought better of it. Which would was a wise move.
The vast majority of theatregoers would be Patti who? Plus the show itself is not that we'll known over here.
The current production is selling on Imeldas powerhouse performance, and even then it isn't a sell out all the time. If they were to replace Imelda there are other British actresses (e.g Tracie Bennett) who could do the role and would have the same.box office appeal as Patti Lupone
