I'm so tired.
Thing is, high genre stuff should have more of a place in theater. But it's mostly only ever coming to us through this cynical IP sludge.

It sounds intriguing. And the Game of Thrones-verse has certainly been on an upswing lately with the new show which has been very well received.
I would love to see more high-genre fare produced more. But I’m not surprised at all that so many of them are IP based. It stretches credulity to believe that any theater or producer these days would mount a new premiere of an epic medieval-age fantasy play that wasn’t based on some form of IP. That would be the biggest of big swings.

It's very much like the Star Wars conundrum: audiences historically love Star Wars, but historically HATE any other (non-anime) science-fantasy/space-opera. So it has become, in the mainstream, more or less a genre of one.

It's one of two theaters owned by the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Oh, okay. I was thinking RST was an independent company.

They could do a lot worse than Duncan Macmillan and Dominic Cooke...
