I saw the December 29 show of La Cage, the matinee, and missed Gary at the stage door because he sleeps to recouperate between shows..so I sent him a letter (devoted fan letter, trying not so sound like a crazed fangirl), with my program and ticket, and asking him to sign it. And TODAY IT CAME BACK IN THE MAIL!!! :) He signed it for me, and so quickly too! On the playbill he wrote "Thanks Kellie, Sorry I missed you. Next time! Gary Beach"
Ahh, he's so nice! :) He's one of my favorite actors of all time.
..Just thought I'd share..
Cute! :)
yay i always like to hear when actors are actually nice to their fans! im tired of primadonna actors who blow off their fans!

I love Gary Beach (which should be fairly obvious). I actually thought about sending him a letter...but I'd make a huge fool of myself.
He's great. And soo nice at the stage door. I've met him twice and twice he's been a sweetheart. And it's really cool your stuff came back so soon...and signed!

Yay!
I'd be afraid I'd sound like a psycho if I sent a letter. Hm, oh well lol
Gary Beach is one of the nicest men I've ever met (inside the theater world and out.) He was wonderful after The Producers, and just as wonderful after La Cage.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience. Did your letter to Mr. Beach also include all of the necessary materials for the return of your Playbill (ie: SASE)? I was just curious.
Girlfor: Beach is a real sweetheart and very nice to people on the street and at stage doors.
I'm happy that you got your response so quickly. As for the stage door thing and people being called divas because they DON'T meet their fans, please let's not get into that discussion again. Let's agree to disagree. There are those of you out there who feel that an actor should be accessible all the time -- not just give you a good show and be able to go back out on the street and be a normal person. And, there are those of us who feel that it should be the actor's personal choice and that if they choose NOT to sign or meet people at the door they should not be slammed for it.
In any case, Gary is experiencing well deserved success and is a talented guy. Great that, while you didn't get to see him, you did get your memorabilia.

I had missed Patti LuPone in Anything Goes over July 4th weekend back in 1988. I wrote her a letter asking if I could send her a program for signature and she signed one and sent it on to me. so nice. It was a dream come true to work with her/meet her on Sweeney Todd with the NY Phil as an adult. she really is a genuine person and such a hard worker.

Couple of questions. To which address did you send your request to Mr. Beach? Do you think both he and Mr. Davis would sign my Playbill if requested? I saw the show a few days before it opened and didn't have a chance to wait on line for autographs. Thanks in advance for the info.
Keeping my fingers crossed for a cast recording and a chance to order a program.

Tommycanuhearme..sorry I didnt get back to replying!! I didnt know people were still commenting!! :x
Well, to you, Im not sure what SASE is..
I sent it w/ stamps and a self addressed envelope, if that's what you mean. :)
And to geaux..
I sent it c/o Marquis Theatre to Gary Beach.
And I think that they both would sign your playbill!!
Daniel always comes out after shows, and if you write a nice little letter to them, I thinkg 99% they'll both sign it.
They're so nice, and since I got mine back in about 7 days, I don't see why they both couldnt. :)
Good luck!
I also saw/ talked with Gary Beach after both La Cage and The Producers. He was so wonderful and genuine. He had conversations with almost everyone who had waited. He really went above and beyond. I am definitely of the opinion that Broadway stars owe nothing of the sort to their fans... but it's very nice that he is so friendly, nevertheless.

I totally agree with you!! Just having Broadway actors come in every day for a live and strenuous performance is enough to give to fans who love shows. I believe that Broadway actors are the nicest ones out of all from the entertainment industry, with the most rigorous schedules.
GirlforTartaglia, I totally agree with you. It also seems like Broadway stars are the most passionate out of the entertainment industry. How inspiring.
FYI - this was on another board:
Send it to either Daniel or Gary. Let them know (in a short note) how much you loved the show and their performance when you saw it but you were unable to meet them at the stage door and tell them. Ask them if they would mind signing your Playbill for you and asking the other to sign it as well. Wish them good luck and goodbye. (I'm serious about keeping it short and sweet. They just don't have time to read LONG messages). BE SURE TO INCLUDE A SASE!!! Very important if you want to get anything back.
Send your Playbill to:
Gary or Daniel
