I'm sorry, but I was shocked to disover that the head of Chicago's biggest theatre company, is a Republican mouthpiece. It is revolting, and I won't be attending any Steppenwolf productions in the future.

Why would someone's political views decide if you enjoy a show or not. Honestly, I hate the republican party and I hate clear channel because they are big supporters of the republican party. Yet, they produce/back a lot of shows on Broadway. Do I stay away because clear channel is involved on the production? No, I still go and enjoy the show.

I've lived in a Bush world, where I'm not allowed to be gay. Because the Republicans say that I'm not allowed to do this. Cannot get married. Cannot be a human being.


And Gary Sinese is the SPOKESPERSON for the Republican machine. Think about it.

If you are a Republican? What have you done? Cut funding. Said that "Spring Awakening" is a horrible thing, and obscene.

I'm sorry, but teenage pregnancy is a FACT. Get over it.

The best thing that you can do is ACKNOWLEDGE it.

And "Spring Awakening" is genius. Get over it, Mr. Gary Sinese.

I really don't think he's THE spokesperson. Also, Steppenwolf was founded by two other people who don't have outspoken political beliefs. And finally, not going to see a Steppenwolf production because an ensemble member (who is most likely not associated with the production) of the theater company is a Republican... seems to stink of the same sort of intolerance you dislike so much. Protest if you like, but I think you're sorta out to sea on this one.

Plus, I think he's one of those America First kind of Republicans, not an Ann Coulter Republican... which I find less frightening. And he doesn't seem to let his political views infect his "work" all that much. He played Tom Joad and McMurphy for chrissake. But, I can see you've added something to your last response... and this new edition makes me think perhaps you're joking.

He might have made statements regarding politics and the election but he is not THE spokesman for The Republican party... or John McCain for that matter. He is not the voice of the Republican party.

He is doing EVERY voiceover at the Repub convention.

Doing every voice-over different than being the spokesperson. When Shirley Jones sang the national anthem at the RNC a few years back... nobody was calling her the voice of the Republican party... speaking of Shirley... do you not watch Carousel?

Quite frankly, I could care less who he supports.

First of all, doesn't this belong in the Off Topic section?

Second, as a Republican, I wouldn't deprive myself of attending an excellent performance just because someone doesn't share some of my political views. That would be absurd! (BTW, I think gay marriage is a good thing---not an opinion many Republicans share.)
