I've never seen the movie. I ran across the soundtrack on iTunes. It's available to purchase for $11.99. I love animated movies and I admire Judy Garland. I'm not familiar with any of the songs. Based on those two factors should I risk making the purchase. Can anyone here familiar with the score and the film please advise me because curiosity has gotten the best of me.
*Sorry ~ this thread definitely belongs in the Off Topic section.

The story is silly and the animation is very UPA.
(Think Gerald McBoing-Boing, '60s Tom & Jerry, Mr. Magoo or the Pink Panther cartoons...)
BUT... the songs are by Arlen & Harburg who wrote The Wizard of Oz, and there are some nice tunes in this, particularly "Paris Is a Lonely Town."
I enjoyed it as a kid, and then picked up the DVD when it came out a year or so ago... I was a bit disappointed that it didn't hold up for me as an adult. I still found things to enjoy throughout. The vocal cast is first-rate.

Posted: 3/17/07 at 7:22pmIt's Judy singing an Arlen score. How can it be less than terrific? The movie (available on VHS/DVD) is not great, but the CD of the score is available and well worth it.

I'd never claim it was terrific but it is fun I think. And don't give UPA discredit--this is very LATE UPA, after they stopped being the truly pioneering studio they were with works like Tell Tale Heart, Unicorn in the Garden etc (there needs ot be a decent UPA DVD collection)

I saw it recently. A friend bought it for me. It's quite campy and un, and the music is pretty good.
I really like the part where the cat almost becomes a hooker.
Really great kid's stuff.

This was my first introduction to Judy Garland... loved it as a little kid and I still love it as a teenager!
The animation is so pretty... I've never seen another movie done in quite that style.
"Paris Is a Lonely Town" is definitely the best song, and you should get "Roses Red, Violets Blue", too. (But they're all worth the $)
