Wait, are we talking about inter-species blind casting now?
^^LOL!
Back (sort of) on-topic, here's something I've wondered for a while:
What about a woman playing Edna in Hairspray? The character is female, but written for a man in drag. How would the show be affected if an actual woman played the part?
Someone mentioned turning Finch into a female in How to Succeed. I could barely see this working because of all of the changes that would have to be made. Rosemary's character would have to become a business man and Finch would be a secretary I guess starting from the maintenance lady level working her way up to head secretary? Then how would Hedy LaRue play a role? I can't see a man having the same impact on a woman as it does reverse in the scenes. And then Bud Frump would never be jealous of female Finch in the first place because that's not the job he wants.
Sorry to over analyze, but some things just have to be left as they are.
