Gentleman's Guide Seating Question

Hey everyone! I'm taking my family (5 of us total) to see Gentleman's Guide using a code and I was wondering what's a better choice:

Orchestra sides row N (seems to be the last five seats available)
Orchestra center row R: they claim that you miss something during one moment of the show on the upper level. Is this a big deal? I'd greatly appreciate any guidance!

Really it is apples and oranges.
The show is stanged very well and you will not miss a thing from side orchestra... You may miss an actor or two in one scene, but actors on the opposite side will be in your biew doing the same thing. You wont see the full back wall, where the projections are, but they are designed well so that you do not need to see 100% off the screen to understand the jokes that are sometimes in the design.
As far as missing that one moment, it is a VERY funny moment and lasts about 2 seconds. It IS a pay-off to a revelation in a previous scene, but not absolutely critical.. And there is a second pay-off, at stage level, several minutes later.. And I am sure anyone will be happy to share the missed moment with you after the fact.
Enjoy the sho!

colorthehours, if you have not purchased your tickets yet, go to the telecharge site and see what seats are available using the pick your own seats, there may be other options for you by seating 2 or 3 together and then 2 or 3 directly behind those. You may have to call to place that order but you may get a better seat that way.

I would sit center. The staging is really incredible when viewed from straight on,and the top level has action on it for a total of 3 seconds (literally).

If it's such an important moment, why do they even sell tickets for seats that can't see it? I think that's pretty disgustingly greedy on the part of the theater, the producers, and anyone else who allows that to happen. I don't want to pay $150+ to not get the full experience.

Go with N. Yes, that moment you miss is a short one, but it's also... Well, it's hard to say too much without being spoiler-y, but it's a pivotal moment and literally the penultimate line of the show. You don't want to miss it.

bmg2 - The moment in question is not essential to the story (it's more like an extra punchline to a very long joke), and hearing the line makes it clear what's going on. It's unfortunate to miss it but hardly invalidates a full price ticket.

I'll just say this, and I hope it's not considered a spoiler.

The show is full of twists, and this particular line is the final one, the sort of linchpin twist.

Yes, it is.. But it's also a twist made apparent several minutes earlier. It's just one final jab... and a final jab at that follows two minutes after at stage level, so you can argue both sides equally well. I am, however, glad I could see that moment.

The twist is made apparent several minutes earlier?

No, the setup happens earlier; the payoff comes in that moment. When it's set up, the payoff itself is by no means "apparent." That would be some bad writing if it were.

But you can hear the final twist, even if you can't see it.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

Mysterious, it depends on how you look at it.. The "aha" moment is the twist.. Or the visual as the twist, both are valid.

Call me crazy, but I'd rather experience the moment as a whole, if given the option, rather than half of it. Its visual component is as strikingly funny of the content of the line, so I guess the OP can decide based upon that information whether she and her family might be content to only hear and not see it.

No, I agree. For what it's worth, I sat in the front row, extreme house left, and could see fine, including the final twist.

I agree fully that it is better to experience every moment and not miss, but I wont also say "it will ruin your might and not be worth going if you dont see two seconds here"

"For what it's worth, I sat in the front row, extreme house left, and could see fine, including the final twist."

That's good to know. I'd been wondering how the extreme sides are. I'd like to see it again.

Is rear mezz good or bad for this show?

I sat in rear mezz row G and it was better than I expected. I was able to see everything except for a few of the projections, but I didn't feel that took away from the show.

I thought I'd bump this thread to ask another question. I will, hopefully, purchase tix to this show soon. Would you recommend side orchestra on center aisle or side mezzanine on center aisle, each seat would be in the first row.

Also, the current discount codes only cover performances through July. Does anyone have an idea if August might soon get included in the discounted offers?

I wanted to bump this thread and ask how the balcony seats were. I was considering buying a ticket in Row B / Center Balcony and just wondered if it was worth it.

Thanks. :)

I would go Mezz front row over orch front row....but that's me. I prefer to take in the whole thing.

As for the Balcony? You couldn't pay me enough to EVER sit there again. (I did for A Little Night Music.) The worst place to ever see a play. However, there are (I believe) only two rows up there.
