Othello: The Remix
 Nov 1 2016, 05:46:18 PM

Has anyone seen this show? I was a bit skeptical going in, but I haven't laughed so hard in a really long time! The Q Brothers are so talented and the show is really engaging and a fun, fresh take on Shakespeare. It's only 80 minutes long and doesn't take itself so seriously - a rarity in musicals these days.

I attended a reading a while ago for The Muscle in Question and it's a really interesting play by a young playwright. I highly recommend!

Gentleman's Guide Seating Question
 May 31 2014, 03:23:43 PM
Hey everyone! I'm taking my family (5 of us total) to see Gentleman's Guide using a code and I was wondering what's a better choice:

Orchestra sides row N (seems to be the last five seats available)
Orchestra center row R: they claim that you miss something during one moment of the show on the upper level. Is this a big deal? I'd greatly appreciate any guidance!

ONCE Reviews

I saw this show on Friday night and it blew me away. I didn't expect to like it nearly as much as I did. It's now in Curtain Critic's top five, which is just fantastic. I haven't seen Newsies yet, but so far, I'm rooting for Once to win best musical.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 1/29

Bad reviews don't always translate to bad sales. Curtain Critic just posted an interesting blog post graphing their scores versus the show earnings this week.

But in the case of On A Clear Day, no it's not surprising. The show didn't really work the first time around and even a familiar name like Harry Connick Jr. couldn't really save that creative mess.

It got decent-ish reviews. I think the problems with Godspell have always been there. People always point them out when there is a new production, but it still has an established following. I feel like this show isn't really attempting to be "high art" but more of an enjoyable time. Anyways, since when has a Stephen Schwartz musical received raves? Check the scores on Curtain Critic (It scored higher than Wicked!):

Les Miserables Movie Auditions/Casting Info

Agreed. It has yet to be officially confirmed though, so I'm trying to stay positive.
Les Miserables Movie Auditions/Casting Info

I personally hope that Lea Michele gets the part. I am very much against Taylor Swift in that role. Check out this blog post which lists 15 actresses (some have reportedly auditioned for the part) that would be better than T-Swift.

THE ROAD TO MECCA Reviews
 Jan 18 2012, 02:15:36 PM
I'm pretty surprised by the reviews. I knew the cast would do well, because Rosemary Harris is amazing, but the rest of it didn't do terribly well on Curtain Critic.

It's a shame! I hate to see plays get poor reviews.

LES MIS Cast Complete - Taylor Swift is Eponine/ Amanda Seyfried is Cosette
 Jan 13 2012, 05:09:26 PM
I agree with you. I think it was a terrible casting choice. I am banking on the fact that it hasn't been confirmed yet. However, I just stumbled upon this blog post by the people over at Curtain Critic. They listed fifteen actresses that are better than Taylor Swift and while some of them aren't necessarily the best actresses EVER-- I definitely agree with them. She is the worst choice for this role.

Do critics even matter?
 Dec 29 2011, 06:08:34 PM
Websites like Curtain Critic allow people to see what the critics thought without having to read every single review. I think it's helpful simply to consult with the critics, because some shows get amazing reviews but don't stay open, because people coming to town only listen to their friends who will recommend the big crowd-pleasers like Mamma Mia! and Wicked. I think the critics help keep artistry alive on Broadway.

Everyone should check out Curtain Critic. It's really helpful! www.c

LYSISTRATA JONES Reviews
 Dec 16 2011, 03:23:22 PM
Going back to the actual topic...I was surprised with the reviews for Lysistrata. It got a gold rating on Curtain Critic, with most of the reviews being medium to good. The only major reviewers that panned it were from Bloomberg and Newsday. I haven't seen the show, but I'm interested in seeing it now that I've read all the reviews (and seen the passionate responses to this thread).
