The only new info I gleaned from the latest article is that Bob Martin has (co-)written the screenplay, and they have a "big director" lined up.
I'm wondering if it's Tom Hooper. Although I would love it to be someone like Martin Scorcese (yes, I'm serious) or Steven Spielberg.

Depp could just slick back his wig from Sweeney Todd, and he'd be all set.
Actually, I think he'd be great in yet another crazy Depp role. I could also see Robert Downey Jr. doing a great job. Or someone out of left field like Christoph Waltz. I'm not sure why I think he'd be hilarious, but I do.
EDIT: Actually, I know EXACTY why I think Christoph Waltz would be hilarious.

Posted: 9/3/13 at 10:11amI think if we had Geoffrey Rush as Man In Chair, with Judy Davis as the Chaperone, Christoph Waltz as Aldolpho, Amy Adams as Janet, James Marsden as Robert, Jennifer Hudson as Trix, and Debbie Reynolds as Mrs. Tottendale, I would be in heaven.
