There's a great recording of The Scarlet Pimpernel in German which is the only recording to properly preserve version 3.0. They did leave off the "Storybook" reprise, but other than that it's wonderful.

Glockner von Notre Dame with Drew Sarich and an INCREDIBLE ensemble is a must have. And the original German cast recording of Titanic is great, though the song that was added to that production "3' Days" is not there.
The German Miss Saigon sucks because the translation is awful and some of the principals are ghastly.
Tanz der Vampire is great.

There's also
Joseph and Jekyll
Jekyll is AMAZING. Lucy and Emma are REALLY good. Check it out.
I just got Frühlings Erwachen or Spring Awakening and it is really good
Going back to the late 60's .... two stunning cast albums on vinyl:
HAIR - a 2-disc box set with color booklet, from Munich
CABARET - from Vienna, with a female emcee - and it works!
The only other German-language cast album I have is the CD of CATS.

For anyone interested, here are some recommendations:
Please note that I have written Vienna as Wien, as most labels will display the city in its native name.
DAS PHANTOM DER OPER
The Original Wien Cast
...is a 2-disc set (similar in structure to the London Cast). The cast is one of the best, and the quality of the production's musical direction is great.
The Original Hamburg Cast
...is unfortunately a measly 13 tracks. This is a travesty, as this production employed all oepra singers and, I'm not kidding, one of the greatest orchestras of any production (better than the Toronto one). They play with such riveting excitement and creativity. Both of these recordings are well worth the purchase.
REBECCA
The Original Wien Cast.
Get the Live Recording (aka Gesamtaufnahme)...it's 2-discs, and is the entire show.
ELISABETH
The two best German-language recordings of this are the...
Original Essen Cast
...from 2001. It features the two original Wien stars, Pia Douwes (in amazing voice), and Uwe Kroger as der Tod (Death). Some Americans may be interested to note that Michael Shawn Lewis plays Elisabeth's husband, Kaiser Franz Joseph.
2005 Wien Gesamtaufnahme
...this is the audio track from the live DVD, featuring the closing cast of the premiere production (it ran from 1992-1998, 2003-2005). It's a thrilling execution of musicality.
