I think its silly they made musicals out of Ghost/Rocky/Spiderman... so why not make one out of the BTTF Trilogy. The music in the movies were iconic, ranging from Huey Lewis, Chuck Barry, to ZZ Top.
Of course a BTTF Musical would also kind of be silly, but I think it would be fun to watch.

I may be mistaken, but I think a version of this announced a primere in London. Haven't heard anything about it recently though.

For some time there was one being developed. In the UK the director of the project was announced, Jamie Lloyd.
Here is that announcement;

However, despite making the announcement and even the theatre, The Dominion, all seemed to fall apart with artistic differences being cited.
Here is the reporting of that;

Since then very little has been mentioned and so there is no knowing whether this has got a green light or not!
Secret Cinema in London did a very extravagant Back to the Future production.
I live ghost the musical.

Since both Ghost and Rocky were such amazing success stories doesn't that speak for itself as to why Back To The Future should not be made into a musical?
^Ahem, no, it doesn't tell you whether something you have never seen or heard in your life, would be good, bad or indifferent.
It's actually been in development hell forever.
But considering the fates of Rocky and Ghost, I think the question answers itself.
