How about something that doesn't cost 400 dollars? I don't even have that much money.

The best question is WHY? If you feel you must, give a gift in their name to BCEA, God's Love we Deliver or some charity you like.

Do actors get the gifts that are sent to them or is there a stage doorman in Brooklyn that has a roomful of swag?

When we had artists in to do personal appearances at Tower Records, I would estimate 80% of performers disposed of all gifts immediately (or left them behind for us to do it).
I remember one "Alternative" rocker giving me a fan's home made mix tape with 10 or 15 page love note saying "Oh here, take this. I bet it's hysterical." I asked him "Don't you want to keep it?" and he shook his head "Trust me, I have HUNDREDS of them."

Send them a giftcard or something they can use. Like an actor wants another creepy collage, scrapbook, or teddy bear. Give them cash. Actors don't need gifts from fans-if you don't know them it can appear creepy.

It just wrecks of needing validation from someone you don't know. A note sent to someone whose performance you appreciate is much different and more appropriate than going out and buying a gift for them. Just my opinion.

Don't send them anything.
They get cheap crap sent to them all of the time.
Most of it gets:
A: Placed in a pile in the dressing room
B: Re-gifted
C: Re-sold on eBay
C: Tossed out.
Most performers have people send them things all of the time. They simply do not have the room for it.

Actors and Actresses do not want a gift from you or any fan, but if you simply MUST, then make a donation to their favorite charity in their name and send them a card letting them know about it.
If their hearts and minds are inthe right place, that will mean more than a candle or scrapbook.

DTL,
Perfect idea!
And candles are not allowed in the theatre dressing rooms.
I know, you'll say, "They will take the candles home with them", no they won't.

It's wrong to say that no actor appreciates gifts! I gave Idina a puppy after her last performance of Wicked and later when I saw her I asked her if she liked it and she said it was delicious!

How about a nice vest made from the skin of the last actor you stalked? Make sure you get their size first!

There have been times when I've walked through a store, seen something, and thought "Wow! (Insert random actor here) would love that!"
And then I think "SHUT UP, YOU'RE CREEPY."
And walk away.

This is NYC ... with more wackos than ever roaming the streets and doing the "stagedoor" thing. Anyone would be foolish to accept a gift from a perfect stranger, no matter how sweet or innocent you might think the gesture is. I've seen many a gift from fans get tossed right in the trash. Don't waste your time or money, unless of course, you already know him personally (and by that I don't mean having your picture taken with him at the stage door ... but rather REALLY knowing him).

Actors love severed human hands and mix tapes with your favorite songs that remind you of them.

I always liked Liam's response about chasing Idina Menzel for her autograph.
