Poto-Well, I've been in theater management for about 9 years, and learned about the business from both sides. it's well known to everyone the fears that actors have about stalkers and/or rabid fans. We all have heard the horror stories. I myself was in the position of protecting actors from serious and dangerous stalkers.
Of course, not every fan is a stalker, but actors don't want to take the chance. Actors love fans, we know that, but when a gift is sent from an unkown fan, even a fan whom they may have met a few times, they have no idea what the motive is. It very well may be a tainted gift. Why should they take the chance? They throw them out. If they know who those gifts are from, they may hold those fans in suspect from then on. That's all I'm saying-if you're a fan, stay a fan but don't use gifts as a way of making yourself more than a fan. Take it for what it's worth.
If you are truly a friend of an actor, well, this thread isn't apropos.
