Are Neil Simon tickets always this much?
Nearly everything in the Mezzanine is over $100 if purchased via TicketMaster (I do not live in NY so cannot go to the Box Office to buy the tickets).
That being said, does anyone know of any discount codes going out for this show or does that usually arrive later?

The show sets the prices, not the theater.
Usually later. Audience Rewards is offering 2000 points if you buy Gigi tickets, though.

Posted: 1/23/15 at 12:54pmDo you think prices are higher than what, say, The Last Ship was when tickets initially went on sale for that show because producers have a star in Vanessa Hudgens and believe they can utilize her to drive ticket sales?

Posted: 1/23/15 at 12:55pm^ The Last Ship has half the mezzanine (rear mezz) for like $65.

Posted: 1/23/15 at 12:59pmYeah and I'm seeing $99+ for nearly all of the mezzanine save for the last 2 rows or so for Gigi. Definitely don't remember Catch Me If You Can being this much which was the last time I was at the Neil Simon haha

Personally, unless the show is star-packed at a It's Only A Play level, or has someone like Hugh Jackman, I wouldn't buy early at full price. If you're already looking for cheaper seats in the mezz, there is little value in buying early.
Vanessa Hudgens isn't going to sell out a run of Gigi on star power. There will be discounts early in the run and then, if word of mouth builds, and it is a great show... they may slow/limit the discounts at some point.
I've often bought too early and wondered later on if I was the only person in my row who had paid full price.

Posted: 1/23/15 at 1:02pmI can't remember what Last Ship cost when it first went on sale, but I know I paid $89 to sit in the front row of the mezzanine for it, on the aisle, as soon as discounts were available.

Posted: 1/23/15 at 1:39pmI would wait. When I saw Big Fish there, I sat in the rear mezz for around $40. Not bad seats but not worth nearly $100.

Posted: 1/23/15 at 1:46pmThey also have no seats showing as available in centre orchestra before row U on the night that i checked, and it seems hard to believe that they are really sold out to that extent. I'm assuming that they are waiting to see how sales go before deciding how much of the orchestra to sell as "premium" vs. 'next-highest full price'.

Posted: 1/23/15 at 2:04pmI'm also really interested in seeing Something Rotten! Trying to decide if I should maybe see that instead of Gigi if I can only choose one or the other...

Adam, did you pick first preview/opening night or something? The day I picked had loads of orchestra available...
kyl3, you really want to buy tickets to something today, huh?

Does anyone know if the front row orchestra is typically a good view at the Neil Simon? I sat in the second row for one show there, All The Way, and the front row would have been fine for that particular show but I have never seen a musical there.
They are charging premium price for the front row which is unusual, so I am guessing they are anticipating the view to be good? I like to sit as close as possible but I don't want to be confronted by a mountain of a stage .... anyone with experience in the front row? Thanks

Posted: 1/23/15 at 2:16pm@haterobics -- Haha, no I will wait. It's just that my interest in Something Rotten has been growing. I plan to see King and I and American in Paris during my next NY Trip and just wanted to add a third show to the trip with Gigi being my initial one. This will be in May so still a bit of ways out.

Posted: 1/23/15 at 2:18pmI checked for Sat Apr 4th at 8pm (the only slot left on my trip to NYC that weekend except for the previous thursday evening, when Gigi does not have performances).
#16Gigi on Broadway Tickets
Posted: 1/23/15 at 2:21pmI guess they are being aggressive about Saturday nights, so they can crank up the premium later? Or maybe as that is the Saturday before opening, that may be when they are holding a lot of press seats?
#17Gigi on Broadway Tickets
Posted: 1/23/15 at 2:29pmAh, I bet you're right about the press seats the saturday before opening. I hadn't checked for any other times since i wouldn't be able to go any other times. Originally i had saved the thursday for Gigi and the saturday for The Visit, so i was sad that Gigi wasn't doing thursday performances that week. Anyhow, I will hold out a bit longer, first to make sure that The Visit has Thursday evening performances - if not, that show would take the priority for the saturday evening. If i do go to Gigi on saturday, I will hold out for either discounts/better prices for the seats they have available or better available seats for the prices they are charging.

I was in a similar situation once with Telecharge (not ticketmaster), and I called and switched the date I saw Side Show to accommodate my schedule and open up a slot for Hedwig. If you are seeing any other shows through ticketmaster, maybe they would let you switch another show's date, for example, your Friday show to Thursday to open up Friday for you to buy Gigi tickets?
I have had very good luck with ticketmaster support in the past, they have refunded my money without ticket insurance when I had to cancel an entire trip.

That's an interesting suggestion - i wouldn't have considered asking them to switch another show, but maybe they wouldn't mind as long as it lets me buy tickets for two shows from them instead of one. I'll give it a try - thanks!

Posted: 1/23/15 at 4:15pmJPeterman, I saw Ragtime from the front row and the view was fine.

Posted: 1/23/15 at 5:09pmYou don't even have to get into the swap or anything. Usually Telecharge is fine letting you switch dates, although it isn't really a swap, but usually a repurchase/refund, but the same thing in theory... so, if you can move another Telecharge show to another date, they are usually fine with it.
