re: Girl heavy shows

Actually nine has 2 required males (guido/little guido) but also offers many opportunity for blind casting. For instance, Lina Darling can be changed to Leo Darling. They offer several of these within the script. Thats great because if the college wants more guys to be involved the show kinda lets you control that.
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

re: Girl heavy shows

I've heard the MOBY DICK cast recording, featuring songs and a good bit of the dialogue. It is indeed about a girl's school putting on "Moby Dick". Several individual songs are killer, but the recording as a whole was painful to listen to.
I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."

re: Girl heavy shows

I recently saw Honky Tonk Angels and there are 3 main leads all female. Well the entire cast are the three females and the band but they just play the music. LOL

re: Girl heavy shows

thank you to everyone for your suggestions. my school doesn't have a lot of men that can sing, hence why we are looking for a female driven musical. our guys can act really well but singing is not their forte. any suggestions are welcome! thanks again

re: Girl heavy shows

My school has the same problem!!! We still don't know what we are doing (it will be announced monday) but so far I have heard...

Thoroughly Modern Millie (I've heard the rights are hard to come by)
Good News (old 20s musical)
The Boys From Syracuse (there are some guys in it too)

EDIT

Or maybe something where the guys can talk their songs? Like My Fair Lady?
