Are there any short scenes from any shows that would be good, and appropriate for 6-8 graders? I'm in a bit of a crunch here. Funny is prefered

Thank you so much

I'd recommend something from You're A Good Man Charlie Brown or Snoopy. Snoopy was one of the shows my middle school performed, and I remember it being a lot of fun.

In terms of musicals for scene study in the middle school classroom, I would suggest:
Hairspray (script published by Applause Theatre and Cinema Books) -great themes to explore with middle school students and a fun show, with great characters; "Into the Woods" is absolutely brilliant -and there is the junior adaptation for the middle school age range; The Wiz (Samuel French)and even the "The Wizard of Oz" in that regards...?

...other musicals with great characters (and range of ages to be played etc.) are "The Secret Garden"; "The Sound of Music"; "South Pacific" and I could go on and on...

a great website for theatre arts teaching resources is attached and there are great books with scenes there specifically written for middle school students... hope that is some help? :)

I taught this age group (drama) for 15 years and it IS hard to find appropriate yet interesting scenes for them. And to add FUNNY on to that is even more difficult. I have found that there are books/sources out there for elementary school kids (but there are horrid) and for high school kids aplenty, but middle graders are largely (not entirely ignored)

I have some dramatic suggestions for you, however,

The Crucible
Little Women
Witch's Scene from MacBeth
The Children's Hour

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

BIG RIVER has some good Tom-Huck scenes. There are other adaptations of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn out there as well.

I regret to say that I cannot help with your question, but must note that each time I see the thread title, I think it says, "Guy giving the finger to middle schoolers?" and it makes me smile.
