Saw this the other night and really loved it for the most part. Very touching, emotional, and uplifting. I appreciated the environmental awareness and government neglect aspect of the plot. The pacing and mother/daughter relationship reminded me a bit of Hell’s Kitchen. The score was lovely, but a little forgettable. Nambi’s “I want” song, “I Can Hear the Stars”, "Fork in the Road, and “Pass it Along” stood out to me.
Mandy Gonzalez was fantastic. Her voice is so strong and unique. Loved her relationship with Nambi (Jaci Calderon). Jaci held her own with Mandy, which was impressive given Mandy’s stage presence and vocal powerhouse status. Despite the relatively large cast, all of the students felt like unique characters with their own quirks. I especially liked Nunu
