Posted: 10/12/04 at 7:27pmI have a much better role to cast Brooke into......Obscurity. Why can't she just keep her untalented man hands off of broadway? Go stink up the lifetime network if you have to but stay out of legit. entertainment please!

She stepped in and will singularly be responsible for keeping this show afloat. Since you haven't seen her, you can't comment. As neither can I.

Posted: 10/12/04 at 7:51pmWhile I have not seen Brooke in W.T., and I don't intend to, there is no chance that she will be very good. She can't sing, which is fine because neither could Roz. However, Roz was an actress, which is something that Brooke will NEVER be. This show does not deserve to remain open. Had they cast someone who was right for the role of Ruth, like Lucie Arnaz, it would be the best show on Broadway. Going to see this show now would be supporting stunt casting.

Just because you post "I AM NOT A SHILL" doesn't mean you aren't.
I'm seeing Brooke Thursday night..... I'll let you all know what I think.

You people are F*ucking rude.
Brooke is getting quite positive reviews so far. And I love how you say she can't sing the role. So funny coz the role calls for minor strong singing, HELLO THIS ROLE WAS WRITTEN FOR ROSALIND RUSSELL, one of the best non-singer Broadway actresses of all time.
So really lay off Brooke. If you haven't seen her yet, than don't judge on what you have not seen. That just really pisses me off. asses.

"Brooke and other Hollywood Hacks should not be on Broadway!"
You possibly cannot say that, because there are definitely "Hollywood" stars out there who probably are capable of being on Broadway, we just might not know their hidden talents or they just don't want to. For example:
Catherine Zeta Jones
Queen Latifah
Matthew Broderick
Wayne Brady
Carl, have you seen her in WT?

Posted: 10/12/04 at 9:40pmThis is not 1938. Broadway, TV and movies all intersect, and America was dumbed down a long time ago. You can't keep Broadway 'pure' anymore. And if Brooke keeps people employed, god bless her. As long as room remains for the real talents of Raul, Kristen, Nathan, etc

Posted: 10/12/04 at 10:18pmI think more along the lines of god damn brooke sheilds. As if producers didn't need MORE incentive to fuel the belief that placing washed up television and film stars in place of real talent to make some extra $$ was a good idea. I understand the elation brought on by the furthered success of a show, but I also consider, at what cost? Clearly, this goes to show the devastating reality that today less talent seems directly relational to more money in the producers' pockets. There goes another one..

Wow. Just wow.
Many of these posts are truly reprehensible. Honestly.
I hope some day people write things about you all like this on a website.
Shame on you all. Shame.

Posted: 10/12/04 at 10:29pmSeriously I would like to say that saying God Damn towards anybody in the theatrical world and yes Brooke Shield is in the theatrical world now, like it or not but she's done more Broadway than most of you guys as of right now, is totally despicable. There are other ways to express your negativity. I do it all the time.

Besides being a $$ draw, Ms. Shields has proven to be an extremely hard worker and a positive, galvanizing force on casts she's worked with. And I have a feeling she'll show up.
Nothing against Ms. Murphy, whom I can only assume was dealing with terrible issues that kept her out of WT...but her poor attendance record adversely affected the show.

Posted: 10/12/04 at 10:36pmTheatreboy, your comment about more money in the producers' pockets is stunningly ignorant. Do you know how much money the producers have lost on this show up to this point? Do you know how much money it costs to run a show? Do you know how much it costs to pay union cast, crew, staff, and musicians? To rent a theater? To pay for advertising costs and a press agency? To rent office space and pay your office staff and supply them with health insurance?

Posted: 10/12/04 at 10:40pmThere are two things that are probably upsetting people about this. First off, the infamous producers who installed Ms. Shields have a track record for taking people with name recognition - regardless of whether they actually fit the part they've been cast in - and throwing them into shows to boost ticket sales. Second, the most glaringly obvious question, to my mind at least, is why Brooke Shields has been cast in a role that calls for a less than glamorous actrees to play it. The woman looks gorgeous on the posters hanging all around NYC. I feel sorry for the folks who work so hard to keep Wonderful Town alive each night because they've faced considerable obstacles, foremost of which was the fact that the two leading ladies went missing. You can be sure there is a crew and a cast of chorus members who work their tails off and have put up with a lot.
