I got this interesting mailer about Godspell today.
Essentially, the producers are trying to fund the show $1000 at a time from theater goers. But only if you're in California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, or New York.
This is the first time I've seen a mailer like this, so I have to ask: is this a particularly common practice? It seems strange to blindly cast such a wide net for funding. For example, I can't for the life of me figure out why I, a serial TKTS/Lottery/Rush ticket purchaser, even received this.
They want to get the show on Broadway this year, so we'll have to see what happens with this latest effort.

This is a new approach -- but we learned of it a few months ago from producer Ken Davenport. (Kind of an interesting idea.)

They probably bought a mailing list from some where and tried to target theater-goers.

I believe it when I see it.
