Going to see Brooklyn tonight

I have enjoyed the cd (especially Ramona Keller)...don't have incredible expectations, but do hope it is better than people have said...

The pre-show drinks at Barrage should help!

Yes, drink plenty before the show. And bring a bottle of Captain Morgan's into the theatre with you. And pray you have an aisle seat, so that you can run out of the theatre when you realize how bad it is.

I hope Ramona's back.. I heard she was sick and missed a show yesterday!

Get smashed. Absolutely smashed. I'm sure you can find some decent drug dealers along 10th ave so you can load up on whatever you like before the show. Those are they only possible ways I can think of to ensure that you're not repulsed by the show - but even then, there are no guarantees.

Don't listen to the braying negativists that haunt this board - go with an open mind and you'll love it!

re: Going to see Brooklyn tonight

You went with a firmly closed mind, Munk - every word of your review underlined that fact.

I am definately going with an open mind...I really liked that "Fly Like A Raven" song on the cd...

re: Going to see Brooklyn tonight

No, every word of my review underlined the fact that I hated the show, and it's truly truly terrible. And I did say that I liked the set and the direction, and how they used the set was very clever - I enjoyed that aspect, and I stated that. You wouldn't know if I went in with a closed mind, unless you have some magical powers or something...I know just as many people that loved it that hated it - and from the music I heard on the CD, I liked the music. I said that in my review...why would I go into a show WANTING to hate it? That's just a waste....mind your own business, and maybe you should put a little more effort into expanding your taste in musical theatre.

And Raven's fly like a Raven or whatever song is terrible. It has a nice melody, but the lyrics negate themselves and make absolutely no sense.

Right next to the theatre. It says STAGE DOOR ENTRANCE or something, you can't miss it - there are baracades in front of it to keep the angry audience members from rushing the stage door and demanding their money back.

re: Going to see Brooklyn tonight

Blah, blah, blah. People on this site make me laugh. It's one thing to not like something, that's great, you have that right. But to go on and on, like on this thread, is just insane. I mean, people have worked hard and are continuing to work hard on this show. How would you feel if this was something you were a part of and people were talking about it SO poorly. Okay, you didn't like it, fine, we got it. You don't have to like it. But, some people clearly do. That's their right. You can express that it wasn't/isn't your cup of tea, but move on. The negativity is gross.

Munk, you chose to write a scathing hate-filled piece on a show that is inoffensive at worst. That's why I bothered to comment on your review. It was so over the top it had no value as criticism. And here you are again, going on and on about it as if you have some personal vendetta in the works. Lighten up, pal. It's only a show.
