Happy Martin Luther King Day!
Anyway--
The Golden Globes are tonight and frankly, I don't care. I know The Producers is going to win nothing (and frankly, it really doesn't deserve anything.)
Does anyone agree with me or disagree with me?
I'm open for anything. Even some bashing because I know everyone has their own opinion about The Producers movie.

I adored the Producers, but I don't predict any wins.

Well, this has been discussed to death but, I can't wait to watch the awards tonight - I've been looking forward to award season for quite some time now.
I liked THE PRODUCERS. It's not necessarily better than the other things nominated in its category, but I'm also not really rooting for it to pick up any awards.

I'm not particularly rooting for The Producers, or feel that it is the most deserving. I feel that there were much better comedies/musicals this season that deserved that nomination more than The Producers. However, I am very excited about this years awards...more than I have been in quite sometime.

I would love to see Nathan Lane take home the globe as the Producers is a true Musical/Comedy and Walk the Line is a dramatic bio pic. Which should fall under Drama.
I am rooting for The Producers!

I am rooting for Nathan Lane and that's about it.
Walk the Line should be categorized as a drama.

Not really. It just has a lot of music in it because it tells the life story of a music legend.
You could classify last year's "Ray" as a drama too, it just uses music in the background to tell a story of a musician.
However, I think "Ray" is a better film than "Walk the Line" and therefore, was happy to see Jamie Foxx walk off with the Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) award. I don't think he would have won if "Ray" had been clasified as a drama.

Posted: 1/16/06 at 1:26pmI think that RENT was immensely better than The Producers. I didn’t' think I would, but I actually enjoyed The Producers. I enjoyed it, but it deserves nothing for the screen adaptation because it wasn't an adaptation! It was like they zoomed in on the stage show! Nathan and Matthew made me feel nauseous with their overacting (which is appropriate on stage, but not on screen.) I know that was probably the point, but it bothered a lot of people. I think the highlights of the film were Will Ferrell and the lesbian in "Keep it Gay!"

Wanna Be a Foster,
I think Leonardo DeCaprio would have won a well deserved Globe for "The Aviator" if Jamie Foxx had been in the Drama category. I do think that the Oscar still would have been Foxx's though.

Posted: 1/16/06 at 3:45pmI think neither Producers nor Rent deserve awards. And I'm still mad Munich wasn't nominated for Best Picture, which I think was by FAR the best film of the year...oh yeah, and Serenity.

Posted: 1/16/06 at 3:48pmLOVED "The Producers" and rooting for it. I SO wish Roger Bart and Gary Beach had been nominated for supporting actor instead of Will Ferrell, but that's another story.

Posted: 1/16/06 at 7:35pmThe producers was good, not great, in my opinion, but what it really comes down to is that it wasn't received incredibly well by either the press or public, whereas Walk the Line was. The only thing the Producers has a chance at is " Best Original Song," although I think "The Hop Clop goes On" should be the song in contention over "there's nothing like a show on Broadway."

I'm surprised with how good they've been thus far.
Was Jesse L. Martin on the list of presenters? I know that Rosario Dawson has been mentioned around here. It was nice to see Jesse get some camera time.
