Goldstein, Unexpected Joy, TFANA Twelth Night?

Any of these worth seeing before they close in the next two weeks? I'm leaning towards no on all of them. Goldstein and Joy highlight clips make me not want to seem them. Conversely, the highlights of Letter to Harvey Milk made me go see it and I'm glad I did. I do like seeing Shakespeare at TFANA, but this import production doesn't seem as worthwhile as their previous work. Any thoughts?

The Twelfth Night is not a TFANA production; they are just using TFANA's space. It's a production of The Acting Company and the Resident Ensemble Players, a company based out of the University of Delaware. I saw the production last month when it was playing in Delaware and thought it was good, not great. I wouldn't say it's a must-see, particularly since Twelfth Night is a frequently produced play and you're likely to see (or have seen) a better production. I can't speak to the other two shows you mention.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Goldstein, Unexpected Joy, TFANA Twelth Night?

Seeing "Goldstein" at the end of the week but only heard good things about it, I really liked "Unexpected Joy" and thought it was a great show. The story is cliché but the music was fantastic and Luba Mason was excellent, the show isn't perfect but seemed a lot more polished than other new musicals out there. If you caught "Side Show" on Broadway it is the same composer. It was also nice to see a musical focused soley on women and having a lesbian subplot which you don't see often. I loved Harvey Milk and thought this show was just as good. If you can get a ticket without breaking the bank absolutely see it.

I need a show to see Sunday night and am considering Goldstein or seeing Chicago again.  I need to kill some time and Chicago, of course is a longer show.

With a playbill.com coupon, you can get into Goldstein for $36-40. Megan McGinnis is in it and as far as I'm concerned, she's worth the price of admission on her own.

I went with Twelfth Night. There's some highlights on The Acting Company's facebook and they looked intriguing to me. I agree it was good, not great, nothing special, could have skipped it, but I enjoyed it. I also thought TFANA was at least co-producer's since it's listed as part of their season, but you were right, they really have nothing to do with it, they aren't in the playbill at all.

Skipping Goldstein and Joy, just can't get excited about either, both look bland and not worth the visit.

Also saw Transfers last week before it closed. Juan Castano's performance elevated it, but the play itself didn't really thread anything new. I enjoyed Admissions much more. Plan on seeing A Brief History of Women before it closes this week as well.
