#0Good Off-broadway shows to see?
Posted: 9/11/06 at 8:31amHI..I am coming into the city in November and I have seen most of what is on Broadway at present, and was wondering if anyone has opinions about good Off-Broadway shows to see. I was thinking about Altar Boyz or Forbidden Broadway. Any opinions on these or others would be helpful..

I strongly recommend Altar Boyz. Recently went for the 3rd time, with a large family group ranging from teens to seventy-somethings, and everyone enjoyed it.
If you've seen most or all of what's on Broadway, I would imagine yet love Forbidden Broadway.

yeah Forbidden Broadway is great if you know all the shows it represents :) it's evil fun....
but yes: i'd recommend Altar Boyz. it pokes loving jabs at boy bands and Christianity. :)
another good one is Jewtopia. it's about a guy who wants to marry a Jewish woman and is quite popular right now.
in November i'll be seeing Mimi le Duck but i can't tell you that'll be good or not. it's just another idea to throw out there.

Posted: 9/11/06 at 9:53amThanks..Most people I know who have see Altar Boyz have really loved it. I know I would get all the jokes in Forbidden Broadway, but my friend who is coming up from Virginia probably wouldn't get them all..she has only seen Wicked. Do you think she would have trouble getting the spoofs?

Posted: 9/11/06 at 11:44amI wouldnt recommend Forbidden Broadway if your friend hasnt seen most of whats on Broadway now. She wont really enjoy it. Altar Boyz is fantastic though, always a fun time. Also, by Nov a lot of new Broadway shows will be open: A Chorus Line, Times, High Fidelity, Les Miserables, Grey Gardens, not to mention all the new plays.
