Goodman Theatre cancels ‘Ma Rainey’ performance due to death of actor Matt DeCaro

“The Goodman Theatre was forced to cancel its Saturday matinee of “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” due to the death of cast member Matt DeCaro.

The theater also said Saturday that the cast had decided to proceed with the Saturday night show in DeCaro’s honor. Scott Aiello will play DeCaro’s role of Sturdyvant.”

Misleading Subject --- they cancelled a performance -- not the show.

This was incredibly sad to read. I saw the production last night and really enjoyed it. Sending good vibes to the company for their performance today and for the rest of the run. 

RIP to Mr. DeCaro.
